Chapter 1: Answered Question
New York City 8:00 PM
There have been strange things happening lately. One of the things I am talking about is yesterday I went to get a book at the Local Library. I picked up a book off the shelf and it without warning disappeared and appeared back on the shelf. I asked the librarian what was going on, she tried it, and nothing happened. I don't know if I am imagining things or not. Right now I am just lying down on my bed in my apartment thinking, wondering if it'll happen again. I then decide to go to my computer to take my mind off of it.
A picture of a missing man appears on the home screen of the news network. His name is Morpheus and it says he's been missing for 3 days. I ignore it and start searching about the weather the next day and all the sudden the screen turns black. I sit there for a minute staring in confusion at the screen. Then green letters start typing and it says, "It's wrong." I then type back, "What is?" It then says, "The news." I then type in confusion, "Who are you?" After a few minutes of waiting, it responds, "In time." The screen quickly flashes back to the unfinished search bar on the home page. "What the hell?" I say to myself. I slowly push the "off" button on the tower of the computer and get in my bed. The last word I saw repeats over and over again in my head as I fall asleep.
Waking up and heading to work was a blur. I was still thinking about what I had seen last night. I made myself forget about it as I arrived at the office. As I get to my cubicle, I start getting all my papers out. After 1 hour of typing up my papers, I get a phone call. I pick it up and say, "Hello?" The man on the line responds "Get of there, now!" Then he unexpectedly hangs up. I presume he's a prank caller and ignore it. I start to hear a rhythmic light beeping sound. I turn around and see a man walking fast away from a cubicle. I look closer and see a pen with a bright red light flashing with the beeping sound. It then loudly beeps continuously and then explodes. It sends me, hundreds of papers, and pieces of plastic flying away. I fly over a cubicle and land roughly on the ground across the room. I make an attempt to get up quickly while I'm stunned, and start to trip. I then accidentally barge through a stairwell door and tumble down the stairs. As I am waiting for my dizziness to wear off, I hear gunshots and screaming from the office above. After a few seconds, I quickly get on my feet and run down the stairs. I eventually reach a level where the door back into the building is locked and the stairs down to the lower level are blocked. I see an emergency axe on the wall and I quickly break its glass casing and bust through the window to the door with it. Reaching through the window, I unlock the door and continue through the building.
I finally reach the lobby where everyone has evacuated. I run up to the front doors and to my surprise they're locked. I hear loud footsteps behind me growing closer quickly. I turn around expecting another employee to be freaked out but what I see is a black suited man with a black desert eagle up to my forehead. Panic rushes over me that I'm about to die, but then the man raises the gun in the air, then smacks me hard with it. I fall to the ground with extreme pain and everything vanishes.
