Inheritance (continued)

Eregon hated good-byes, his whole life was lived in Alagaysia, and he knew

that he would never see his friends again. You will see them through mirrors but I

understand your loss Little One, Sapheria said. She was sad but she felt she had to

be strong for Eregon. Losing her mate was not happy but she had to bear through it.

Eregon thought glumly to Sapheria, Roraan Catrina I hope they are faring better than

I and, little Hope, Eregon sighed she was so lovely. The thing that bothers me the

most is Areya though, she was the one for me, but I knew I had to give her up. The

barren desert Eregon had walked into was so hot they stopped for a drink. Sapheria

answered Eregon, I'm sure she will talk to us but with her being the ruler of the elves

I'm not sure she can come to you. I know she has a frown on her face to know that

you are gone, I might be wrong about her never visiting but I know she has her

duties.

Eregon saw that it was getting late so he and Sapheria decided to make camp

for the night. Sleep was hard to come by when you have a million things going on in

your head and, all Eregon wanted to do was turn back and embrace his friends and

family. It pained him to admit this to Sapheria but they pushed onward into the dry

seemingly endless desert.

By early morning Sapheria and Eregon were already up and flying. About after

one hour of flying they saw the forest. Green, lush, and…strange. The trees were

even higher than in Du Weldenvarden (which to Eregon was a large shock). He also

could hear a...hear a...a what? It sounded like giggling but it also sounded like

people whispering. Sapheria, would you go towards the noise for me, I find it quite

strange Eregon said with a kindly tone. Of course I will, Sapheria answered. She

went into a steep dive and not a minute later a small village appeared in the forest.

They landed and were surrounded by what looked like elves but shorter and had a

barely noticeable red tint to their skin. "I am Eregon, dragon rider and shadeslayer. I

wish not to hurt you I was just curious to the noise of your village." Eregon said in a

calming tone. He realized that it was just a river on the right side of the village next to

the smallest wood and grass hut. They didn't seem to understand but a thin female

with a strange looking necklace came up to him and said, "Hello Eregon I beg your

pardon of the non-understanding of my villagers." She said in a rough yet sweet

voice, "I am Arnay and you are welcome in our village but," she said. "Do you speak

in this tongue? My villagers understand this." She said in the Ancient Language.

Eregon replied in kind "Yes I do."

From there, the villagers took him and Sapheria to the nearest hut where they

lodged for the night. When he woke up there was a woman in the corner sipping tea.

About three-seconds later he realized it was Areya he jumped up and gave her a

hug. "Areya why are you here, what about your duties! I...well I don't know what to

say. I thought I lost you." Areya answered "Eregon I couldn't rule without you with

me." She sighed "I was going to ask you to come with me back to Alagaysia. Yet I

know you wouldn't come back if I asked you so I passed my rule to a worthy

successor, to join you, Firnen and I will help train the new generation of dragon

riders with you. Eregon... I love you."
