Votak is from voya nui, as you can tell from the name. He has the claws of the former toa, Pohatu nuva. He had the Kanohi Huna. He has gone through a lot. He was there when the Piraka took Voya nui. He was sent to alert other matoran from other places to help. He brought his best friend Bakhan. Heck, he even went to Mahri nui by accident. The reason he didn't get mutated is because he wasn't in the mutagenic zone before he entered the air bubble. There, he got Defilak. The le-matoran quickly agreed to helping out. Though they stayed for a few months for him to make microscopic microbes to change his structure so he could stand the pressure change. Once they got to the surface they got maruta. He was hard to convince. But once he found out that mata nui was dying after the matoran came back, he quickly agreed to come. Maruta got his brother Rukari to come with him. But before they could leave, the rumor went around, before Turaga Pohatu heard, so he went to join them. It was hard for the elder to convince them, but he got to come eventually. And so, they begin their journey to stop the Piraka.
Maruta is from an ancient city of war so he gets his strength by fighting. He hates the rahkshi because lehrahk formed with him. He wanted to travel alone to see the elders, but, he ran into other matoran. Like Votak, Rukari, and Defilak. He ran into a couple of battles on his way there, like some skakdi, but he tricked them and then inserted venom into his back. he likes traveling quickly, and he won't stop for anything, nor sleep, nor weather. He kinda gets irritated with people talking on the way there, like his brother, Rukari.
Rukari is very annoying. He cares a lot, but when someone stands in his way, or challenges him, he will let all hell break loose. He loves to challenge his brother, and he broke his brother's kanohi 500 times. He keeps score. He likes to meet new people, but if they ditch him or anything like that, he will kick them out of his village faster than Pohatu on maruta's back.
Defilak is a le-matoran inventor. He came from Mahri Nui. When he heard about the Piraka terrorizing Voya Nui, he immediately wanted to join. He had to create microbes to allow him to withstand the pressure change.
