Rings n Things

Summary: A short Sheridan muse before he gives a certain something to Delenn.
Author's Note: This is my first real B5 muse, hopefully it's first in a long line of many. (Again, sorry it's short, and a little dry.)
-In most loving memory a fan can have for Andreas, Rick, and Tim.
Disclaimer: I do not own B5, JMS does. (Though if he were to give me Mr. Morden, I wouldn't refuse…)
Genre: Um…General, Humor.

He took a breath. "I…I could giver her flowers—she smiles. Hell, if I smile, she smiles. If I…If I read off something funny in a paper—she smiles," He looked at Stephen intensely. "I can imitate Londo—" Ah-choo! "—sometimes, and she laughs and then smiles," But he frowned. "Stephen, I don't know how I'm going to tell her."

Setting aside a medical scanner, Stephen considered this. He shrugged. "Well…first off, if you wait any longer, she's gonna get suspicious."

"Sure," he said. "But how?"

"Well…" thought Stephen. "Do something that will make her smile."

He was still a little confused, but took it to heart. It sounded like a fine idea, so he resolved to do it some way or another. So, he thanked Stephen and made his way, losing focus and straying to thinking about a troublesome Vorlon. Once he knew what he should do—what he had to do, his thoughts returned to Delenn like they did most of the time.

He loved her.

It was poetically simple like that. Yet what Lorien had promised was no more than twenty years. He didn't give much thought as to who he'd end up being—as if heroics mattered, only faithful duty now in kicking Clark's dictatoring butt—only that he would be somewhere in his early sixties. He was about as content with that as he could possibly get, but the thought would hang over him and the woman he loved like an annoying grey cloud.

Love took precedence.

So while he was in the Zocalo, he turned to the only sophisticated place he knew of. It was in an equally sophisticated corner where he knew a few of the businessmen, but not well enough to give him a "wow you cheated death" discount. (He doubted any of them would be that lenient, especially considering he looked loaded for money—which wasn't true, but oh well. Stick it, eh?) Eventually, after a meticulous manly commanded search, he found something that caught his attention. It was beautiful, but very modest, proud, yet humble. However, his biggest worry came into play: would it fit?

When all else fails, try the pinky finger.

Which didn't help him much, but he bought it anyway—he stuffed it under a pillow because he's a guy and guys do these things just to make it harder for themselves.

And then…it was time to kill the little, overbearing-crazy-deformed-twinish-uncle, Vorlon. He wasn't sure how he was going to pull that off, he wasn't entirely sure if he could kill him, just maybe wound him, a little—like Susan would say. He wasn't entirely thrilled with Garibaldi's attitude in the matter, either, but John always had a plan. (He had that special look in his eye.) So, when worst came to worst, Kosh would save him! …Right? Well, as he almost died for the second time that day, he got his answer. So when he woke up and came to think about it, he kinda missed Kosh.

Love took precedence.

So while he was with Delenn in the hours that followed, he took a breath and told her the news. It was pretty much poetically simple like that until her tears glazed her eyes. Then he felt bad. And then it got worse: WHERE THE HECK WAS THAT RING?! Ok, sure enough, he'd stuffed it under a pillow because he's definitely a guy, and guys definitely do these things. (Hey, cut him a break, would you?)

He loved her.

But it was funny. She kinna forgot to smile because she was still Minbari. However, she did kiss him, so that was nice. Love sorta takes a precedence like that anyway. But...: would it last?

Well, to quote a Vorlon…:

Yes.
