"So I guess you really, really liked your present, huh?" Chuck smirked as he lay back against the bed, completely exhausted after four hours of helping Blair Waldorf really celebrate her seventeenth birthday. He couldn't believe the things she'd done to him. He'd never have thought that someone so new to the world of sex, let alone the Virgin Queen of Constance, could be capable of such mind-blowing passion. He felt completely drained and happy. More happy than he'd been in his whole life. Ever.

"I guess I did. Jewellery is the ultimate aphrodisiac you know," Blair responded lightly. Of course, the truth was that the only aphrodisiac she needed had been the care and thoughtfulness Chuck had shown in buying her the present. The tenderness he had displayed when placing it around her neck almost lovingly. The night before in the limo she had been craving passion and raw desire, proof that it wasn't her fault that her boyfriend didn't want her, and Chuck had given it to her. Tonight she had needed comfort and gentleness, and Chuck had been able to give her that too.

"Oh, I know. You have no idea how incredibly sexy it is seeing you in nothing but the necklace I gave you," Chuck lazily drew his finger across her breasts, glistening with his juices. He'd actually given her more than one necklace that evening. "I'm sorry if it wasn't who you wanted it from."

He wasn't sure if he was referring to the diamonds or the sex or both. He hated the thought that she would have rather had either from Nate. He found it hard to believe that only two days ago he had been complacent, in fact positively encouraging, about the prospect of the girl beside him losing her virginity to his best friend. Nate, who never appreciated how beautiful Blair was, would surely never have appreciated how amazing she was in bed either. The thought of Blair and Nate having sex now did weird and painful things to his insides. He was so glad that that was never going to happen.

Blair smiled. "I put it on hold on a whim. It was so expensive I honestly didn't think anyone would buy it for me."

Chuck looked at Blair and he could see the shadow behind the smile. He suddenly realised that Blair's little tradition of putting presents on hold was kind of sad. She might pretend it was so she would get things that she wanted, but he knew that it was really because neither her mother nor her boyfriend had ever been interested in going to the trouble of having to shop and search to select a gift for her. Hell, he wondered if either of them really knew her well enough to be able to choose something she'd actually like.

He planted a small kiss on the side of her forehead as he whispered in her ear, "You're worth it."

At the end of their last sexual encounter, after which reality had come quickly crashing down on Blair Waldorf, all she'd wanted to do was get as far away from Chuck as possible. And stay away from him. Now all she wanted was for him to stay close to her, linger with her in bed. Because she could hear the sincerity in his voice, and it sent a thrill through her to know that Chuck Bass, who could have and had had any girl he wanted, thought that she was worth diamonds.
