Windshield wipers working furiously, Sam eased the Impala off the desolate highway and shut off the engine. Rain lashed the road, whipped into a frenzy by battering winds, drumming the roof in a relentless beat. He sat back and sighed, tired, before reaching for his hours-old coffee and glancing at his brother.
Dean sat slumped against the window, a small circle of condensation where warm breath met cold glass. Exhausted from days spent denying his impending illness, he slept soundly, shivering lightly.
Sam shed his jacket and tucked it snugly. Dean stirred, hoarse and bleary. "S'matter, Sammy?"
"Pit stop."
