I glanced at Hiccup as I drove past the no trespassing sign.
"You're going to love this Hic."
He turned away from the open window and grinned, those big brown eyes alight with mischief. "I know."
I pulled my truck to a stop at the fence and lowered the tailgate. I had just hopped up when a plane went roaring overhead. Hiccup's grin could've lit a thousand christmas trees.
"Jack, this is great!" He exclaimed. He hopped up into the bed of the truck next to me and had just settled back on the blanket when I saw the blue and red police lights pull up next to my truck.
"Shit. Your dad is going to kill me." I groaned.
"Nah, it'll be fine."
Faster than we could blink, we were in cuffs in the back of the cop car.
"I swear, your dad is going to kill me."
Hiccup just leaned against my shoulder. Then I chuckled.
"There was somethin' bout the way the blue lights were shinin that was bringing out the freedom in your eyes…" I half sang half whispered.
"I was too busy watching you going wild child to be worried about going to jail." Hiccup sang back.
"You were thinking bout running for it make a good story, I was thinking you were crazy as hell." I sang normally this time.
"You were so innocent, but you were stealing my heart-"
"I FELL IN LOVE IN THE BACK OF A COP CARRRRR!" We belted at the same time, scaring the cop to death.
"JEESUS!"
Hiccup and I laughed the rest of the way to the station. I lived to see another night.
