So this little plot bunny just appeared, and I wasn't doing anything else, so here it is.
Warning: There are mild spoilers for The Dark Prophecy ahead. And on that note, this story assumes that:
1. Leo still goes back to camp during the summer, despite staying at the Waystation in the school year
2. Calypso goes with him, and becomes friends or at least acquaintances with the rest of the seven
I will be uploading another chapter of Interference in, like, a couple of minutes, so make sure to check that out! For those who haven't read it yet, it's a Percy Jackson/Hunger Games crossover centered around Thalia. Check it out!
Remember, if you're enjoying what you're reading, then review!
Disclaimer 1: I do not own Percy Jackson and the Olympians, or any brands, creative property, or anything else I could get in trouble for that is mentioned in this story.
Disclaimer 2: Not to be taken too seriously.
The Struggle Is Real
Piper really needed to stop leaving her jacket in Bunker 9.
Every time she walked in there, something odd was going on. That morning, Leo, Jake, and Nyssa were leaning over a couple pieces of wood on the floor, cursing at each other. A small trail of smoke was leaking off of Leo.
"What's going on?" Piper asked, leaning over Leo's shoulder, who was holding the blueprints.
Actually, it looked more like an instruction manual than a blueprint, but Piper knew that no child of Hephaestus would ever use the instruction manual, on pain of death. Plus, the sides of the paper were charred, so it was hard to make out any markings.
"Oh, uh, nothing," Leo stammered. "Just working on some improvements. For the cabin."
Piper squinted her eyes at him, unconvinced. "You sound suspicious."
"I always sound suspicious," Leo countered. "It's one of my many virtues."
Not wanting to get into that argument again, Piper shrugged and headed to breakfast.
"Hey Pipes," Calypso said, walking up next to Piper. She, as always, looked beautiful in the morning light, and Piper forced herself not to be jealous. You didn't get bad jet lag from Indiana, anyways – at least not what the campers from California and Arizona were going through.
"Hey," Piper replied, passing Calypso a plate from the stack at the end of the buffet. "Have you seen Annabeth?"
Calypso shook her head. "I think Rachel said she saw her cabin holed up working on some project. Have you seen Leo?"
"Same as Annabeth, apparently," Piper answered. "Working on some cabin project with Jake and Nyssa. Don't know what, though."
A smile tugged at Calypso's lips. "He's still working on that, huh?"
Piper wondered why she found that so funny.
Harley knew he had the greatest older siblings in the world, but he had learned that they had moods that were not to be messed with.
As Steffani, Cabin 8's fourth-in-command, lead the younger side of the cabin through the activities of the day, she warned them that Nyssa, Jake, and Leo were all in that mood, and most likely they would be for the rest of the day. Whatever project currently occupied them was challenging.
Leo sat back and cursed in Spanish, the burnt instruction manual laying over his lap. Why, of all the things he had done, this was proving to be the most difficult….
"That's it," Jake declared. "We are never buying from IKEA again."
I went shopping in IKEA for the first time this week, and thus this story was born. As stated above, I do not own IKEA, though I am now the proud owner of a nice IKEA dresser and bedside table.
