"Happy New Year, Mio!" Ritsu shouted, grinning from ear to ear as fireworks exploded above them.

Mio smiled at Ritsu's enthusiastic behaviour and said the same thing to her shyly. They were sitting high up on a hill and had been counting down to the new year. An idea popped into Ritsu's head.

"You know, Mio… I think people are supposed to kiss on New Year's…" Ritsu said suddenly, watching Mio at the corner of her eye, a smirk plastered on her face. "And we're the only ones here..."

"E-EH?! What?!" Mio instantly blushed. The fireworks seemed to go on forever. "What are you i-implying?"

"I think we should kiss, Mio~" Ritsu said cheekily.

"N-No way! We're NOT going to kiss! Never ever ever!" Mio's face was flaming red. "You're not going to take my first kiss!"

"Oh really?" Ritsu asked, pouting.

"Yes! Really! I'm going to give my first kiss to a handsome guy that I like!" Mio retorted, huffing and crossing her arms.

"Really?"

"Really!"

"So…" Ritsu leaned forward, her face completely serious now. "What you're trying to say is that I'm not good enough for you, is that it? I'm not someone important to you, Mio?"

"No... T-That's not it," Mio said, suddenly feeling extremely guilty about her outburst. She turned her head away, refusing to look at Ritsu's face. "Y-You're good enough… I-I didn't mean to sound harsh…"

"…Then does that mean I can kiss you?" Ritsu asked hopefully.

"Wha-"

Without waiting for an answer, Ritsu quickly leaned forward and pressed her lips on to Mio's. Mio was stunned, and tried to push Ritsu off at first, but her feeble attempts ended quickly and she got lost in the warmth and the tingles running up and down her arms. She started to kiss Ritsu back, because deep in her mind, she had wanted to kiss her too, for a long long time.

Let's just say that Ritsu was extremely pleased with her impromptu 'confession' and Mugi... Well, Mugi had been Mugi.
