AN: I'm not JKR. I'm not making any money from this story. Also, I found the head canon on a Tumblr page about Ginny Weasley head canons.

Tell Me What You Want

You know what the best thing about being a quidditch correspondent is? I don't always have to "go to the office". I can just as successfully do my writing at home, in my pajamas, while stuffing my face with chocolate frogs. (Sometimes I really wish my job was just eating chocolate frogs, but I would probably end up bigger than our house.)

However, my favorite part about being able to work from home, is having special one-on-one time with Lily.

Now that James and Albus are older, they're off at Hogwarts most of the year. Harry, of course, is off doing his "hero work", as I call it, at the Ministry. This leaves Lily and me to typically just hang out and do whatever we want.

Most of the time, that is listen to muggle music on the radio that Hermione got for us. I happened to be over at her and Ron's flat several years ago (just after Lily was born, actually.) Hermione had these fabulous things called CDs, and she taught me how to use them. They are AWESOME! You can listen to exactly the song you want to without waiting for it to come on the normal radio, and there are no advertisements broadcasted!

So this leads to Lily and myself turning up the radio extremely loud, and dancing like crazy to our current favorite band, the Spice Girls. (Yes. I know they're not an actual current band. Harry keeps informing me of this, saying they actually broke apart years ago. However, I don't see why. They are fabulous!) We put the CD in and dance for hours! Sometimes Hermione and Hugo will join us, and let me tell you, Hugo is quite the little dance machine! (He did NOT get that from Ron…)

At this exact moment, I am in the kitchen preparing some breakfast. Lily comes running in and skids to a halt right before slamming into the counter.

"Mommy! Come dance with me! Please?" she begs with her wide eyes.

I smile. Those brown eyes are all me. It's hard but I tell her, "Lily love, I will when I am done cooking and after we eat some breakfast. How does that sound?"

She just rolled her eyes and darted into the living room. I just shook my head when all of a sudden, the radio blares out Lily's favorite song.

"TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT! WHAT YOU REALLY, REALLY WANT!"

I laugh quietly to myself. Lately all we have been hearing is the same song on repeat. Then I hear her singing her little eight year old heart out, and I don't even mind. However, I think the neighbors might just be getting a little irritated with our constant blaring of the music.

So I head into the living room to tell Lily that we are going to have to turn it down a bit, when I am floored in the doorway. She has several of her stuffed animals floating around the room dancing a little jig that she herself is doing right in the center of her little dance party she has created for herself.

Now, Lily has shown some magic before now, but this is probably my favorite instance of it. I just stand watching her for a few minutes, then decide to join her. The boys have shown me how quickly your children grow up and go off on their own adventures. I'm going to make darn sure that I am here to be a part of Lily's while she will still have me.

Hopping in to the middle of the circle, I start mimicking the jig that the entire "dance party" is doing. Whipping our hair all around and arms flinging out to our sides, Lily turns to me and smiles her huge smile (even if she is missing a tooth here and there.) Suddenly, I can't even remember why I bothered caring about the neighbors.

And so continues our daily routine.
