Author's Note: I don't own D N Angel. And I hate Dark. I should have put Wiz in this somewhere... oh well. KYU!
It's been a few days since the final brawl between Dark and Krad, with Dark's demise from Daisuke's body because of Riku's kiss. Niwa has been bedridden from injuries in the battle. Riku is ecstatic because her beloved is well enough to join her on a walk through the park.
As the couple stroll among the trees, they stumble upon a secluded pond. The flowers were in full bloom, a lovely shade of butterscotch. They sit down on a bench made of oak.
"Look at the water," Riku says. "I can see the bottom, it's so clear."
"That's because people rarely come her. It's not polluted by their trash. It's pure," Daisuke comments, "just like first love." He looks at his Sacred Maiden. "Like us."
Riku blushes, and Daisuke begins to lean in for a kiss. Suddenly, Riku starts crying.
"What's wrong?" Daisuke asks, grabbing her shoulder as she buries her face in her hands.
"I'm (hic) not pure... you weren't (sob) my first kiss... Dark (sob sniff) Phantom Thief Dark gave me my first kiss... he stole it... and (sob)..."
Realization suddenly dawns on Niwa's face, and a slight laugh escapes his lips before he gives a comforting grip on his girlfriend's shoulder. "You've got it all wrong, Riku- san."
"And... and the worst part is... (sob) I saw your face when he stopped... oh, I'm (hic) sorry... (sniff)"
"That's because," Daisuke gulps, "because I'm..." Do I have the courage to tell her? Will she hate me? He wonders. Ah, screw it.
"I was Phantom Thief Dark."
"Wh- what?" Riku cries.
"Until a few days ago, Dark lived inside me. When he kissed you, and you saw my face..." Daisuke whispers, "... it's because Dark switched back to me. So, in a way, I suppose I was your first kiss." He bashfully looks at the tears on Riku's cheeks. He slowly takes her hands and pulls them away from her eyes.
"Niwa- kun," she sobs, "you're Dark? But... but... no!" Riku hides her face again. "He can't! He'll hurt Risa... or-or Satoshi... or you... he'll hurt me."
"No, no! He's gone!" Forgetting all gentleness, Daisuke grabs her wrists and holds them near his chest. "He would leave once I found my Sacred Maiden, my first love who loved me back. When you found me... he disappeared. He can't come back. He can't hurt you."
"Re- really?" Riku asks, still sniffing.
"Really," Daisuke says softly, inching ever closer to her. As his eyes begin to close, Riku places her hands on his chest and he touches her face to wipe away the tears. Soon the space between them closes, and as they kiss, a leaf from the trees above drops to create ripples in the lake, thereby spoiling its purity a tiny bit.
And in the far depths of Daisuke's mind, beyond where even he can reach, a voice calls out, "C'mon, you're almost at second base! Just touch her boobs already!" Then there is a sigh, and a faint image of a black feather vanishes, and the final link to Dark Mousy is severed from Daisuke and this time.
