Emilia's POV
The soft sound of feet from outside my door woke me from a deep sleep, there was no light flooding in my window meaning it was most definitely not a time for anyone to moving around the castle. I decided that it was nothing of importance and laid my head on the pillow to fall to sleep again.
What felt like only moments later I heard the sound of more footsteps passing my door the soft clink of armour accompanying it, I frowned. Was the castle under attack? Surely the alarm would have been raised but if we weren't under attack then why were soldiers moving through the corridors. I slide quietly out of my bed reaching underneath it for my sword and then moved quickly towards the door, opening it a fraction. Soldiers armed with bows and arrows were disappearing round the corner, I frowned again opening my door further so I could slip out.
"Princess," said a soft voice causing me to jump and almost drop my sword.
"Lord Glozelle," I said nodding my head to my uncle's general as he bowed, catching sight of my sword he frowned.
"Are you planning to launch an attack?" he asked with a chuckle his body tense, I smiled gently in response.
"Of course not General" I paused considering my next words carefully, "I was awoken by sounds outside my door and became curious."
"Your Aunt Prunaprismia has been blessed with her child, I'm sure all you heard was excited maids spreading the wonderful news" My mouth dried up.
"And the sex?" I asked my whole body tense.
"A boy" I allowed myself to take a small sharp intake of breath but nothing more while Glozelle was watching me carefully.
"How wonderful, if you could pass my congratulations on I would be grateful my Lord. For I really must get some more sleep."
"Of course Princess, I'll ensure no one else passes your door tonight to allow you to sleep soundly."
"Many thanks my Lord" I said entering my bedroom and shutting the door, his footsteps quickly faded away. I let out a long shaky breath trying not to let myself think of what the birth of Miraz's son meant for my brother Caspian. Death, no doubt. The soldiers passing my door... Had they been going to Caspian's room? It was round that corner they had turned. I shook my head placing my sword back underneath my bed. Surely he would not launch an attack on Caspian the very night he was gifted with a son, it would look far too suspicious. I made a note in my mind to go and see Caspian as soon as I awoke before drifting off into a deep sleep.
