Chapter 1

Spencer Haistings fortieth birthday is approaching. She does not want to make a big deal of her birthday, it will be the first birthday for a long time she cannot celebrate with Toby.

8 months and 10 days have passed since he died in an accident with the police car. Spencer has done her best to keep up their spirits and be there for their 15 year old daughter kylie but it has not been easy. Kylie knows that her mother is grieving so Kylie has tried to not cause to much trouble, but she's also missing her father endlessly.

Spencer's friends, Hannah, Aria, and Emily have supported Spencer as good as they have been able to. The four friends have been through more than any other person during their lifetime, and they had hoped that all the misery would end when A and all A-followers were arrested but life has had other plans for them.

Before her birthdayeavning, Spencer arranged in the apartment for a cosy wine and game night with her friends, Kylie and her friend Mia. Kylie spends the day at school and will stay at the library after the last lesson to give Spencer a little personal time. Spencer has asked to be left alone during the day so she can take it easy.

At the lunch break the principal walks up to Kylie who sits and eats, on his right side are a long skinny, brown-haired girl. She actually reminds a lot about Kylie, except from the piercing in the nose and the heavy makeup. Kylie rarely use makeup her bright skin, her sharp blue eyes and long brown hair makes her look like shes allredy are wearing makeup. Kylie looks very much her mother when she was young, except that she inherited her father's blue eyes. And she has never been interested in makeup and fashion as her mom, Kylie has more followed her dad out and fished, or hunting.

The headmaster waited for Kylie to chew , her mouth was filled with Apple.

"Kylie this is Sara, she will start going hear. And since you are in the welcome group I thought that you can show her around."

Kylie had forgotten she signed up for the group, she did it to get extra points with their society's teacher, but she never had to do anything except to be in a meeting once a month. Sara is the first student to start in the middle of the semester. Kylie stands up and presents herself. Sara shakes her hand without saying anything.

The headmaster walks away and Kylie asks Sara to sit while she eats whats left of her lunch, then she will give Sara a tour. Sara brings out your phone and start taking Selfies she doesn't care anything about Kylie.

At home in the apartment Spencer sits on the couch. She has already set the table for tonight's dinner. She feels restless. After Toby died, she has not worked full time but always remained a free Wednesday, this particular Wednesday, she liked to work. She did not want to sit by herself. Every bithday Toby jused to take the day off and they order in som food and watch a bad chick flick. She started to regret that she told Kylie to stay at the library.

Her phone suddenly rang. Ever since her teens years has the sound of a phone made her jump.

It was Hannah who wonders if she can come over. Spencer barely had any time responding before it rings at the door, she opens and there stands Hannah "I called before, so don't judge me " she steps in with five shopping bags in her hands. She sits down on the couch with big eyes. "Congratulations, by the way, you get your gift tonight" Spenser smiles and sits down next to her. "Hannah you seem stressed out? Has something happened between you and Caleb? Hannah dives into one of the bags and takes up a receipt and give it to Spencer. "Watch this"

Spencer starts reading the receipt. "Have you bought a bra for 285 $?" She asks surprised. "No, or Yes but that is not whats important here, check out the bottom," Spencer look at the receipt again and the bottom reads, "We will always see you - A" Spencer look at Hannah with fear in her eyes, "it can't be happening again? Have you said anything to Em, or Aria? "

"no, I came here as soon as I saw it, we have to go to the police" Spencer looks at the receipt again. "I go to the station tomorrow" Spencer has always regretted that they did not go to police directly when A contacted them the first time in high school. So now, she will not make the same mistake.

At the school, Kylie just finished her lunch. The atmosphere between her and Sara feels more than chilly. Kylie stands up and waving to Sara to follow. Sara sighs and stands up. They begin to go through the hallway while Kylie point to different things. Sara follows without saying anything. "Where are you from?" asks kylie. Sara looking at her in surprise. "I have lived with my dad in New York but now I move in with my mom here. They think it's best for me to stay with her here.

Kylie nods. She does not know what more to say.

"So where can I smoke in here?"

Kylie stops by Sarah's question and she can see that Sara holds a small tin box.

"You can't smoke here, the school does not allow cigaretts" Kylie replied gently.

"Eh, it's like that everywhere, but what they don't see, they do not punish, and you seem to be the teachers ' pet so you should know where to go without getting caught."

Kylie felt a bit angry by beeing called a teacher's pet, perhaps because she sometimes feels like the girl who obeys all the rules and not does anything fun like everyone else. Sara looks at her waiting for an answer. "You can never smoke in the toilets or out on the schoolyard there are alot of teachers there, but there is a cellar that there's never any teachers" Sara smiles big for Kylie. "Show me!" Kylie starts to go towards the end of the corridor looking nervously around her several times, but all the teachers and students are on lunch, so the hallway is empty. She opens a heavy door and tells Sara to go in...
