Kagome eyed her bed skeptically. Did she dare? Her brows furrowed in a thoughtful expression and her gaze landed on the hanyou who lay on her bed.
'Surely he wouldn't mind. It is my bed after all.' She sighed to herself.
The last time InuYasha had fallen asleep on her bed, Kagome slept in the desk chair, using a textbook as a pillow. That night she had gotten a mere two hours of sleep and, for that reason, failed her test the next day.
Kagome took a step closer. She was tired and wanted nothing more than to curl up in her own bed. With another sigh, Kagome gathered her courage and stepped up to the bedside.
Slowly, she tugged down the sheets and cautiously slipped beneath them. She lay stiffly at first, hardly daring to breathe; afraid she'd disturbed the one who slept so peacefully at her side. A few moments passed and there was no movement from the hanyou, other than his steady breathing. Relieved, Kagome turned on her side, with her back to InuYasha, and attempted to settle her nerves.
Seconds crawled by and the minutes seemed endless until InuYasha heard Kagome's breathing even out. Slowly, he inched forward and wrapped his arm around her sleeping form. Then cautiously, as not to wake her, he pulled Kagome close and inhaled her calming scent. It wasn't long before the hanyou was sound asleep.
The small room glowed with the light from the rising sun. Kagome awoke surrounded by warmth. She tried to sit up but found something held her down and a puff of breath across her neck made her shiver. Kagome froze when she realized InuYasha's lips were pressed against her shoulder and his nose was in the crook of her neck.
Slowly, Kagome turned onto her back, feeling InuYasha pull away slightly. She looked up into golden eyes and a blushing pink face. She smiled shyly, her cheeks a matching shade.
"InuYasha…?"
His ear twitched at Kagome's whisper. He blinked and came back to reality, noticing he was still holding her. Reluctantly, InuYasha began to withdraw his arm, but Kagome's small hand on top of his own stilled his movements. InuYasha looked at her questioningly.
Kagome shook her head, still smiling. "You like me." She whispered.
"H-huh…?" he choked out. His cheeks burned brighter, giving him away.
"You. Like. Me." Kagome stated more confidently.
InuYasha sputtered a bit before he gave a snorted "Keh! About as much as you like me." He uttered the last part as if he were being accused of something.
Kagome smiled broadly. Releasing his hand, she wrapped her arms around InuYasha and snuggled against his side, using his shoulder as a pillow. She sighed happily and closed her eyes.
"Wh-What are you doing?!" He stuttered.
"Going back to sleep."
His mouth opened and closed several times, trying to form words. "Keh." He sighed in defeat and wrapped his arms around her.
"Fifteen more minutes, Wench." He muttered. Kagome was already asleep.
