A/N: Sorry for the lack in update guys. Hope everyone had a splendid holiday! ^_^ I just had to write another small one shot/continuation for Stefan and Elena from 4x02. I'll be updating 'Murder House' soon. Promiseeeeeee.
So, hunting practice hadn't gone according to plan. It had, in this case, completely gone to hell. Sure, she had fed. Sure, she had kept it down. And maybe, just maybe, both she and Stefan had gotten a little carried away. What with all the sexual tension and what not. Eventually, the two had redressed and headed on back home. Stefan had decided to call it quits for the day, after Elena had told him that she felt a little 'under the weather'. He had taken the bait, and they had returned home. Whilst Stefan was downstairs in the cellar, doing god knows what, Elena had taken this opportunity to call Caroline. "Hey, Care. It's me. I'm back..I-uhm…Can you call me?" She said, speaking into the phone as she took a seat. "I've been having some…uhm…assessment issues." She said, voice low. She heard his footsteps coming up the stairs before she saw him, quickly shutting her phone off and slipping it into her pocket. "Hey." She said.
"Hi," He said, walking into the room with a bottle of champagne.
"What's that for?"
"This," He began, setting the bottle and two glasses down. "Is from the year you were born." He turned to face her for a moment. "I think we should celebrate."
"Celebrate what?" Elena asked, getting up.
"Your first feed." He said, taking the wrapping off the top of the bottle. "I know it was disgusting, and traumatic, and horrible," He said, picking up the glasses and champagne as he walked towards her. "But you did it anyway." He paused. "You survived it."
"Well-uhm…I wouldn't say I survived it. I-I-it actually kind of made me sick."
"Listen, I choked it down for a month before I could stomach the taste. It gets easier." He looked down at the bottle. "This, on the other hand, will go down like silk." A smile gracing his already beautiful features. The two shared a sweet smile, before Elena spoke.
"You're so cheery."
"Yeah. Because you're here. And you're alive…-ish." He said, "And uh..you're gonna get through this." Elena nodded, her eyes never leaving his. "So, would you like to do the honors?" He asked, holding out the bottle.
"Okay." Elena said, smiling, taking the bottle from him. As he held the bottle, she took the bottle opener and placed it on the cork. Pressing it down, the cork flew off and popped, sending Elena into a frenzy of giggles. "Oh my god," she said, giggling. Holding out her glass, he filled it and then his. Their glasses clinked together.
"Cheers." Stefan said, leaning forward and kissing her. The kiss was only supposed to be short and sweet, but Elena found herself wanting more. She leaned back in for another kiss, until Stefan's phone rang. Stefan cleared his throat and glanced at the caller ID. "Ya know," he said. "I think this one can wait." He set the phone down, and smirked at her.
Elena smiled, "Who was it?"
"Doesn't matter. They can wait. Right now, we're celebrating. Remember?" He asked. They both took a sip from their glasses.
"Thank you." Elena said. Stefan looked down at her, his hands at her waist.
"Why are you thanking me?" He asked, with an eyebrow raised in question.
"For…this. For being so happy, when everything else around us is going to hell." She said, smiling at him. "For just…for being here for me. When I needed you the most." She rest her forehead against his. "I can't thank you enough for that, Stefan."
"I love you." He whispered, pressing his lips gently to hers.
"I love you too." She said. They kissed once more, and Elena realized that she would survive this. And if she could survive this, she could survive anything.
A/N: Hope you like!
