Summary: How Bruce met Dick, and how they're brothers.

When he first met Bruce, it was after he had just watched his family fall to his death. After what he saw, he didn't have the guts or energy to climb down from the "Birds Nest" by himself. Bruce was the only one brave enough to climb up there and bring him down. He hung onto the teen like his life depended on it as they made their way down.
In a way, it was exactly that. Even though he already missed his mom more than anything, he didn't want to join her just yet.
When he found out that he would be taken from the circus, he was scared even though he knew that he had family outside of the circus. His mom told him about his father once. A man that his mother had loved with all her heart until she found out the truth about him. He was already married to someone else and even had a child of his own.
It wasn't until after Mary Grayson had left to join her brothers, nephew, and sister-in-law in Haley's Circus that she found out that she was pregnant. She'd only told Dick the man's first name and what city he lived in, nothing else.
Dick told the commissioner about his father and asked if he could find him. If he wasn't aloud to stay with the circus, then he would at least like to live with the only blood family he might have left.
"I'm sorry, there's no way we can find a guy just by his last name." He said.
The same teen from earlier heard and walked back over.
"Commissioner Gordon, that's actually the reason why I came to see the show. I was going through my dad's old desk a couple of weeks ago when I found this letter." The teen said.
"We need to be sure, Bruce. Just to be safe." The commissioner said handing the letter back after reading it. "In the mean time, I guess he can stay with you. Otherwise, I don't know where they'd put him."
Dick might not of known what was going on or even known Bruce before that day, but he could tell that the teen was safe.
Dick didn't know why, but some people took some DNA samples from both him and the teen. They said that they needed to compare their DNA to each other. No one told him why. Their excuses were always "We don't want to get your hopes up." or when he asked Bruce "I want it to be a surprise!"
Dick didn't remember much from his first night at Bruce's, only that he had a nightmare and ended up waking up the older boy. He remembers how Bruce had comforted him by explaining how he knew how he felt. Dick told Bruce about how he blamed himself for their deaths, that he should have told them about the man he'd seen earlier.
A week after that night, a vigilante started appearing around Gotham. Witnesses described him as two different things. Some said a demon, others said a giant bat. He'd even visited Dick one night to ask him if he knew the name of the man he'd seen that night.
Bruce spent a lot of time either on his computer, reading in his room, or out with friends. More of the first two than the last one, seeing how apparently the only friend he had was a girl named Selina Kyle. Whenever he wasn't doing those three, he tried spend time with Dick.
He had been there for a month when Dick finally found out what the DNA was for and what Bruce's letter said.
The letter was written by Bruce's father, revealing to his son that he had cheated on Bruce's mom with another woman. He said who the woman was and asked Bruce to not blame her, how it wasn't her fault. That woman was Mary Grayson, Dick Grayson's mom. The reason why they needed the DNA was to see if the Mary Grayson from the letter was also his mom. They were.
That meant that Bruce was his half-brother. He still had family.
During his time there Dick found out that Bruce could and would be as much of a trouble maker as he was. Dick found that even though he would never get to meet his father like he hoped, he was glad that Bruce was his sibling. He liked it at Wayne Manor and was glad he was there instead of any of the other places they could have put him
