He sat there silent. He was finishing his second beer and he hadn't said a word. Her voice interrupted his trance.

"I thought the whole purpose of this outing was to talk about the other night?"

"What?" Andy asked bringing himself back to reality.

"The um… You know," Lisa whispered.

"Yeah," Andy breathed uneasily.

"Andy, I know you were upset about Scott's death. But did the? Did that night mean anything?" she asked quietly.

Andy thought about it. He thought Lisa was a great girl. Sweet, caring, loving, compassionate. All the things he admired in a girl. But when he saw Rena, beautiful Rena, his Rena, just hours ago, it brought him to his senses. It was lust. He didn't love Lisa Reed. The affair didn't mean anything. The only reason he slept with her that night was for comfort. He only had one true love: Rena.

"No Lisa, it didn't mean anything."

"Not even a little?" she asked.

"Not even a little," he responded.

Lisa had seen the look on Rena's face. It did make her feel guilty for what she did to her. To Andy. To both of them, "Your wife um…"

"Rena," Andy supplied helpfully.

"Yeah Rena. You still care about her don't you?"

"She's my wife!" Andy defended.

"Yeah, I know but I saw the way she looked at you. She still loves you," Lisa said.

"Really. I didn't notice," Andy joked.

"But do you still love her?"

"Yes," Andy responded quickly, "I never stopped loving her. I loved her when I was with you. And before you ask, no I don't regret marrying her."

Lisa nodded and sighed, "Guess I really screwed up."

"You were upset too," comforted Andy, "Look Lisa you're a great girl and you deserve someone to love you. But Rena and I have known each other forever. And we have history and chemistry that you and I just don't have."

"Andy…"

"Lisa I'm sorry but I shouldn't have shared that. Myself with you. That gift is solely for Rena. I mean…" he trailed off trying to find the right words, "One you're married you'll understand. Wanting to spend your life with someone, wanting to have their babies with them, wanting to grow old with them, wanting to die for them," Andy poured out, "I can't change what I did but I hurt Rena. And now I have to earn her trust back. I have to make things right. I'm sorry Lisa but I'm not going to lie. That was the biggest mistake of my life."

Now that made Lisa really feel guilty, "I'm. I'm so sorry. To both you and Rena. I thought you guys were through."

"No Lisa, Rena and I aren't through. But you and I are," Andy said as he stood, "Goodbye Lisa." And with that Andy left.

The End
