AUTHOR'S NOTE: Well, hello. Yes, this is Indestructible, only I'm rewriting it. I'll probably go back and delete the original later, due to Fanfictions rules. So, yeah. I hope you enjoy the rewrite for my trash. Yes, I am changing alot.

EDIT: I've gone back to edit this chapter, as I stated in here Alex had a sister, and her father was in the military. It's edited to match with what was said later in the story. I also tried to fix spelling and errors, but tbh I wasn't really paying attention for them. Feel free to point any out. Thanks!

...

"Alex, hurry up!" Logan cups his mouth to yell at me, and I quickly give him the bird. When Hesh looks back with a curious eyebrow, I pretend to look away, and in my not paying attention I end up tripping over a rock. Logan stifles a laugh, and Hesh gently offers his hand to help me up. Elias had decided to bring us out to the woods, to tell us a story about an elite special forces group.

"Having some trouble walking there?" Hesh teased, and I shoved his shoulder which turned out to be a mistake for he threw me over his shoulder and took off up the trail, bypassing Elias and Logan. I squirmed, trying to get out of his grip but it proved to be futile. I eventually give up, letting my elbow rest on his back so I can rest my chin on my palm.

"Alright guys, that's enough." Elias chuckles, catching up and Hesh lowers me to the ground.

I had grown up next door to the Walkers, being neighbors since we were children. Although it wasn't until last year that we had became the good friends we are today. Sometimes, childhood seems so long ago even though now I was only seventeen, Logan fifteen. Hesh had just turned eighteen, and talked of joining the military like my mom and his dad. Mom and Elias had been friends for quite some time, though I wasn't sure how. It was never said. Hesh nudges my arm, getting my attention.

"What's going through your head?"

"Just thinking of when we were younger." I tried to give him a convincing smile, although my mind kept lingering back to my family. So much had changed in so little time.

"Guys, c'mon on. You're slow as shit." Logan muttered, nudging his brothers shoulder as he walked past. Hesh pulled him into a headlock, with me failing to hide my smile.

"Alright, boys. That's enough." Elias speaks, walking by us and Hesh lets go of Logan, the latter sticking his tongue out as his brother. We continue walking, Hesh helping me over a fallen tree. The dirt trail has been mostly clear, save for a few sticks and large rocks that littered it every so often. The shines in my eyes, and I raise my arm to shield it. I wish I had brought my sunglasses.

"Hey, are you still coming over later?" Hesh asks.

"Dude, say yes!" Logan chimes in. "You can make those addicting brownies, and bring Vixen. Just like old days."

"What do you know about the old days?" I laughed, Vixen was my German Shepard. She had been a gift from my mother, a retired military dog she told me. She was an incredibly sweet dog, I couldn't imagine her being anything but cuddly.

"I'll bring Vixen." I promised. "Elias, how much further?"

"Not much more to go," he chuckled. "Why, do your feet hurt?"

"A bit," I lied. In truth, my feet were killing me. Then, just to be me, I added "and Hesh refused to carry me."

"That's not true!" He defended, "you never asked."

"You never volunteered." I laughed again, as Hesh turned to let me jump on his back. Logan stomped his foot.

"Hesh, you never give me rides on your back."

"He likes me more Logan!" The rest of the walk was in silence, Logan occasionally cursing under his breathe as he stumbled over rocks and holes in the ground. Until, finally, Elias brings us to a clearing. I hop off of Hesh's back, taking a seat on a large rock across from Elias as he begin to tell the tale.

"It was a different time, and a different enemy. Sixty different men from Tier One Teams were sent to face down a force of five hundred enemy fighters. Their objective was to force the enemy back from a civilian hospital and keep it's occupants alive. For three days, they held their ground, but the enemies numbers were too great.

The sixty were cut down to sixteen. They wouldn't last another night and the enemy knew it. Under the cover of the darkness, they evacuated the hospital, sending only one of their own to lead the way. The rest returned to the line, and took up positions beneath the bodies of their fallen brothers. As they lay in wait, the blood from the dead poured over them. The sand stuck to their skin like a shroud. Changing them. Anointing them.

When the enemy drew near, the remaining fourteen rose out of the desert sand. They were like hunters that couldn't be seen, using stealth their enemies couldn't defend against. When the men ran dry of ammunition, they used their blades. And when the blades ran dull, they used their hands. When the dust and sand had settled, only one of the enemy had survived. He was picked up in the desert, wandering aimlessly, traumatized. He expressed warnings to the others of a force so menacing and unbeatable, that it could only be described as supernatural. He called them Ghosts."

"And this really happened?" Hesh sounded skeptical, and I couldn't blame him. It sounded a lot like a myth. "Dad, you honestly can't believe that story is true."

"I do."

"I believe you, dad." Logan speaks up. A small tremor shakes the ground beneath our feet.

"These things used to freak the hell out of your mother." Elias says, standing to his feet. Another tremor shakes the ground, as the wind begins blowing my hair into my face.

"Another one?" I ask warily. I didn't remember a time where the tremors happened so quickly like this.

"Don't worry about it too much, Alex. We'll get a few more before things start settling down." Hesh pulls me to my feet, as I brush the dirt from my jeans. We start up the path heading back to the house as a large tree is uprooted. Logan jumps back to avoid being hit and I grip Hesh's arm.

"Dad?" Logan looks up from the fallen tree, giving Elias a worried look. The wind and tremors worsen.

"Let's just get to the house, make sure nothing got damaged." Elias begins to run, and I pull myself over the trunk before following after him. I stop once I hit the street, panting and out of breath. The houses are on fire, smoke rising out of the top in a thick, grey cloud. Like a movie. That scares me. Movies weren't real. The earthquakes here never got this bad.

"It's ODIN." Elias mutters. "You boys get to the house. Hesh, take care of your brother and Alex."

"What kind of earthquake-"

"It's not an Earthquake. It's ODIN." Elias grabs Hesh's arm, making his son face him. "Get them to the house and take care of yourselves. I'm going for the truck." Across the road, a car runs into a nearby light pole.

"But-"

"Just do it, son." Hesh nods to Elias, before taking off up the stone path that leads to the Walker's house. What the hell is an ODIN? The stairs in front leading up to their house had crumbled, and broke. I trip on my way up, hitting my knee on the ground before Hesh pulls me to my feet, ushering me and Logan inside. The second floor creaks, dust and small debris raining over us.

"Hesh, I have to go to my house. My dad-"

"Okay." He nods. "Okay, we'll check." Logan throws open the back door, and I push him aside in a hurry to get to my house. I sprint across the yard, slamming my door open and letting it hit the wall.

"Dad? Dad!" Vixen begins to bark in the other room, and I follow the sound. My dad is sitting in a chair, relaxing as the house begins to crumble around him. "Dad, c'mon! We-" I tug his arm, but he doesn't move. Just gives me a sad smile instead.

"I'm too sick to make it, Alex. Go."

"Dad, no-" I kneel next to him. I knew my dad was getting sicker, but I was so caught up in my own life I didn't notice how much worse. Vixen whines, and nudges his arm with her nose.

"Alex, go." Hesh pulls me to my feet, dragging me away as my dad instructs Vixen to follow me. I fight against Hesh, I lost my mom last year, I couldn't lose my dad too. Tears fall down my face, as my dad gives me one last sad smile. "I love you." We met Logan out on the sidewalk, just as a missile hits the street. The resulting shock wave causes destroys the ground, causing it to break and crack. I tried to hide my tears, but there was no stopping them.

"We have to find dad!" Logan yells, trying to stay upright on the tilted ground. Vixen gives a sad whine, and I rub her head. Hesh nods for us to follow him, and we sprint across the split sidewalks. A major cramp crawls up my side, and I slow down.

"We can get through this. Just keep running." Hesh offers me his hand and I let him drag me along. A house slides in front of us, Logan immediately running through. The wall breaks, forcing us to run up the stairs. It seems the only way out is to jump onto the next roof. Hesh gives me a nod, his grip on my hand tightening as we launch ourselves onto the opposite roof. I turn, to make sure Logan and Vixen get across. Logan lands, but ends up falling and sliding. I pull him to his feet and coax Vixen across, before we take down the broken street again.

Another shock wave sends a tanker barreling towards us, knocking me and Logan down from the impact. Through my blurred vision, I see Elias bring the truck over and pull it to a stop. Hesh says something, but I can't make out the words before everything goes black.
