Opposites Attract

Zutara One-Shot

NOTE: I don't own the characters, sadly. This is a one-shot, like most of my other stories. Please enjoy! =^.^=

-STORY-

Fire and Water, the opposite elements. They were supposed to hate each other. Which of course, it did start out that way. Zuko had literally chased them around the world in search of the Avatar to regain his lost honor. Katara did not appreciate the time he had tied her to a tree to extract information out of her.

They both had had their little sins of which they were not proud of. But after the Southern Raiders, everything seemed to have changed.

They were on pleasant terms now. Perhaps too pleasant, Toph could see that when they walked near each other. Their heart rate sped up, but they denied anything when Aang or Sokka brought it up. Toph found this amusing.

Then, they began to sneak out and see each other every night. They talked, trained, and laughed.

The others noticed in the mornings they seemed happier, and tired as well.

When they had their first kiss before battling Azula, it was like nearly saying good-bye.

Because when Aang found out, he nearly went into the Avatar-state. But then he realized it was just a crush, and he really loved Toph. (Me: Awww)

So after a celebration party, when Katara was outside in the palace garden looking at the stars, Zuko came out to ask her a certain question.

"Katara," he said her name in perfection. Her eyes looked him over curiously. "Yes, Zuko?"

He pulled out a beautiful engagement necklace. It had both the fire and water symbols on it and the strap was beautiful silver. "Will you marry me?" He smiled.

Katara's eyes filled with tears of joy and love. "Of course!" she said and kissed him with so much passion they created steam. "I love you, Zuko (Katara)" they said to each other.

And that necklace still represents their love. Complete opposites, fire and water, but when they are mixed together they create steam that fuels their love for the other.

Ah! I know it's sort of sappy but what can I say, I'm a total sucker for poetry love okay? Please review, just not to mean though, I'm new at this!
