To the Remembrancer
I am but a lurker
in the shadows: that grey mist so fine it melts
in air, and you don't see it until I have long since
passed and left the scent of my lips in the strands of your hair
Glittering with the darkness if the covered night,
buried beneath the earth slowly losing its sight
but they dig – the diggers crumble the thin sheets of ice
that stave the surface and free the flesh beneath:
the graves that have just now been uncovered
along with creaking bones
with still a little strength in them
And now you unearth a treasure: sparking with the depth
of darkness you will come to know, and love: the sight
of my secrets, my soul, that shadow of mine you have long
since passed, but must now turn to look towards
And remember my face little Remambrancer,
because you will be seeing a lot of me
in your future.
