The End

Here we are, at the end of it all

At the end of our seventeen-year battle

Here we stand, equally matched

I, perhaps, a bit more whole

As you have given away most of your soul

Here we wait, watching each other

Anticipating the final duel

We see at the same time

We both open our mouths, raise our wands

Both shout out, loudly, desperately

The spell we hope will conquer the other

Time slows, spells clash, will versus will

At first, we are equal in power

Then there is that spark of change

Your face betrays your realization, but too late

You are in a trance, watching red conquer green

Feeling my power conquer yours, and consume you

Feeling as your wand is wrenched from your hand

And as I catch it, your lurch forward

Opening your mouth, you look to the heavens

In a silent scream of agony

Your body slowly disintegrates, like old ashes in the wind

And I am left standing here

Victorious

Relieved

Exhausted

While your remains are scattered on the banks of the Styx
