Gah. This is my first try at something of a song-fic. I really like this song by The Decemberists (lyrics are property of their respected owner...[Mmmm Colin)

Done in Integra's point of veiw. Enjoy and Review! Thanks!

With all the grain of Babylon
To cultivate to make us strong
And hidden here behind the walls
Are shoulders wide and timber on
'Til the war came
'Til the war came

Integra held her head high after the conference with the Major. If it was a war he wanted then a war he would get. He would be sorely disappointed and he would come to know fear like nothing else. She would make sure of that. He would see fear and he would taste it, coming at him like a hungry animal. Coming at him in the form of a creature that obeyed her in all means. He would find that London was not a toy to be taken apart and it was not something that he could take like the queen in chess. Integra would fight longer and harder than anyone else for the crown and she would make this man, this Major, see that he was playing with the wrong lady. He would come to know death in time and Integra would make sure of that. She would run him through until he knew only pain and then she would finish him.

A terrible autonomy
Is grafted onto you and me
Our trust put in the government
They told their lies are heaven sent
'Til the war came
'Til the war came

Integra smirked as she started her way back to the Hellsing Manor. No one had come in honor of the crown but her. Her men were ages away and this government had not provided anything the Queen would see to herself as would the remainder of the twelve. She had lost her butler and she had no idea where her vampire was. Seras was surely at the manor, but who knew what manor of creature was there waiting.

And the war came with a curse and a caterwaul
And the war came with all the poise of a cannonball
And they're picking out our eyes by coal and candlelight
When the war came, the war came hard

Alucard bowed before her and Integra smirked. The Wallachia army surrounded them. War was fresh in the air now and the spirits were uneasy with it. It wouldn't take much for Dracula to rouse his men. For them to begin the fight. It wouldn't take much. Integra smiled at him and inhaled deeply. He would make this all worth while. This war would come and she would be the victor upon their bodies.

"Kill them," she whispered to her vampire. "Leave no trace."

We made our oath to Vavilov
We'd not betray the Solanum
The acres of asteraceae
To our own pangs of starvation
When the war came
When the war came

Alucard was hungry and she knew it. He would eat again. He would devour all in his path. Integra would watch what happened in her father's time. In Warsaw. When the war last came. When it tore the country into pieces and made the babes cry. She would see the extent of damage the vampire could cause and would be more than glad to watch them suffer by his hands. She commanded it to be and so it was. The war came hard and bloody and she watched as Alucard took all from his path.

And the war came with a curse and a caterwaul
And the war came with all the poise of a cannonball
And they're picking out our eyes by coal and candlelight
When the war came, the war came hard

This was the beginning of the end. Integra knew that they would be victorious. They were simply waiting for it all to come to a bloody and dazed halt. She waited for Alucard to finish it all off. He was let loose like a cannon and she was ready for the fuse to burn out and let him free to kill all in his way. The beginning was ending.
