Prologue: The Gift
"See ya, tomorrow" Kagome said as she started to walk up the steps to the Higurashi Shrine. Little did she know that would be the last time for a while that she would see her friends in the modern era. "Mama, Souta, I'm home" she said as she rushed into the house with her backpack lazily dropping at the entryway to the house. "Damn homework, I'll get to it later", she muttered as she rushed upstairs to her room.
She plopped on the bed, relieved that the school day was finally over so she could loaf around for a bit. Fifteen minutes later, a tap on her window startled her as she was jolted out of a doze and saw Sesshomaru before her. "Let's go", he said in his usual icy tone that she had become accustomed to over the past few weeks.
"Where ARE we going, Sesshomaru-sama?" Kagome had to find out in the worst way as they were walking to the well Kagome traveled the times through. "No place in particular", Sesshomaru said, keeping his cool demeanor as they jumped simultaneously into the well. They emerged on the other side to the darkness of the night and the moon shone unusually bright this night. "Hmm…" Sesshomaru stopped mid-stride as Kagome bumped into his back. "What is it, Sesshy, dear?" Kagome asked. "Nothing", replied Sesshomaru as he took her hand and led her eastward. "Tonight, you become mine, in a professional sense."
"What?" Kagome asked. "Let me show you something." He had transformed into his full form. "Get on" he growled roughly. They took off toward the east until they almost reached the coast. "Here" Sesshomaru landed lightly, with the grace of a thousand geisha dancers. Kagome's jaw dropped. "My business, soon to be ours" Sesshomaru stated coolly as though half expecting her to turn and run. "This place is my wedding gift from me to my bride. Do you accept it?" "Yes, Sesshy, dear, I do." Kagome responded breathlessly.
