This was originally supposed to be a oneshot buuutt if you guys like it I'll write more!
I do not own Inu-Yasha nor do I profit in any way from this story.
~Dedicated to Brittany (and Ciera too!)~
"Breath in, breath out," he repeated this quietly to himself multiple times. His ears twitched in the cold wind as leaves scratched the concrete walkway on which he made his path.
"Not my time. Breath in, breath out."
He slowly came upon the dark foreboding house, this quite obviously being his ultimate destination, and he tried his best to steady his shaken nerves. It's hard walking to your death, knowing that when you cross the threshold of your own house you may have just as well signed your death wish.
A small woman came to the door, though he hadn't yet knocked. She looked up and he thought he saw a shadow of a smile on her uncharacteristically sullen looks.
"Master has been waiting, come in," she ushered him in and he took not but one step in the threshold when she accosted him with question after question, all seemed to be asked quick and in a hushed tone, he could barely keep track of what she was asking him. "Whyhaveyoucomeback? Doyoulikecausingmeheartache? Yourawefulonmynervesyouknow?"
He gave her a smirk, "I would never like to cause you any pain, but this is something I had promised a dear friend I'd do, I'm so sorry." She looked to the floor, hiding her tears, and showed him down the hallway. He kept his eyes on the door at the end of the hall and tried not to focus on what fate he knew lay beyond it. His breathing became terse and anticipatory, as his nose nearly touched the door. He felt a tug on his head pulling him backward. She whispered in his ear, "Don't, I love you." Now he had to swallow his own tears, he turned around, brushed the hair out of her eyes and kissed her. It was short, sweet, and infinitely passionate; it also ended much too soon.
"I'll never forget you, Kagome."
He entered the room at the end of the hall, knowing the only way he would exit would be in a body bag.
She let her tears flow.

"So you returned." A smooth stoic voice came from behind a plush velvet armchair.
"I wouldn't run from you. I'm no coward."
"Indeed coming here shows infinite bravery on your part. But it matters not; you're still going to die." He pushed himself out of the chair with little effort and much grace, leaning his delicate figure against the fire-place mantle. Even in such an undignified position he looked composed, his beautiful childlike face looking bored and un-amused.
"I just have one question."
"Go ahead, I'm listening."
"I understand your plan, and what's going to happen after I-" he couldn't bring himself to say die so he swallowed his words and continued "-but I guess, what I really want to know is, why?"

Kagome wandered back into the kitchen where she was sure there would be a shoulder to cry on, but it was empty.
"Sango?" She called out through a sob, "Is anyone here?"
When no one responded she decided to go to the maids' quarters, maybe sleeping would help. She could only hope.
.~.~.
I'll never forget you Kagome.
Two gunshots rang out in the stillness of the house.
Never.
Well if I get some good reviews I'll write more, it all depends :3
Hope you loved it!
