The reaping in Gale's POV
Time for the reaping I thought….I hope Katniss and I don't get picked….i know that its not likely that she will volenteer.
Effie Trinkett just came out on stage she is telling us about the video that will be played in a few after year the same video is always 12 has not had a victor in years since Haymitch(who is the mentor now) was crowned victor in the 50th year of the games. The video is just now being played.I catch Katniss looking over at to make her smile I mouth the words War te rrible war right before the person says it on the video. She smiles then we look at not paying attention to the video im thinking about Katniss and my feelings towards her. She has been my best friend for years and now I have a crush on her. The video just stopped..Effie reached into the girl's reaping ball and pulled out someone's name. she opens the envelope and reads Primrose Everdeen,. Yes! Katniss didn't get picked. But a thought just occurred to me. Primrose is Katniss's little sister. Katniss screams I volunteer as tribute! Prim is crying hard now. I walk over to carry her to her mother. Katniss walks onstage. Effies hand pull into the boy's reaping ball and she reads Peeta Mellark. Peeta is the baker's son. I know by the way that Peeta looks at her that he has a crush on Katniss. This cant end up good.
