Lullaby for a Stormy Night

A/N: This story was inspired by Vienna Teng's 'Lullaby for a Stormy Night'. For those of you who've never heard of her, but liked the song, when I first put this piece up and before it was yanked from the site, I would recommend checking her out. Good stuff. Anyway since I'm facing a bit of writer's block with Dirty Little Secrets I decided to post this songfic one shot.

Disclaimer: I don't own the Teen Titans, nor do I own anything like Vienna Teng, or her songs. Wish I did though.

She was crying again. Even with the torrential storm raging outside the Tower, Raven heard her. Her fear was strong and had managed to rouse Raven from her slumber. Silently she rose and made her way down the hall to her room. A few more steps and she was there.

A bolt of lighting lit up the sky and the room she occupied. There she was. Crying silently, trembling with fear. Trying so hard to be brave, even though her fear was so strong one could almost taste it. Silently Raven made her way beside her.

Softly Raven sat at the end of her bed. Carefully she pulled the small bundle in the bed into her arms. With a small smile she brushed away the covers from her face. Seeing the fear in the small face she began to rock her back and forth, her rhythm slow and soothing. Under her breath she began to hum, a gentle tune that slow eased the fear in her bundle.

The storm slowly began to lessen. The clouds slowly began to shift across the sky. Piece by piece the moon began to filter it's light into the room. It's light spokeof sweet dreams, and starry nights. Of times and places where fear did not belong.

Raven watched as the tree branches slowly ended their assault on the windows. She was grateful for the small blessings.Their incessant pounding was adding to the fright the occupant of the room faced.

Softly Raven began to tell the bundle in her arms about the times she had been afraid. She told her about how her fears had become real at one point in time. She let her know that like herself, she was never alone when facing her fears. Raven would be there to comfort her, as others had once been there for her. She would be there to chase away the darkness, to keep her safe.

Slowly the bundle in her arms began to relax. Her breathing became even and soft. Her fear began to fade, and was slowly being replaced by contentment, by comfort, by love.

The rain was over now. All was silent outside the Tower walls. Inside the Tower, in a room at the end of the Tower, a young woman and her daughter sat at the end of a bed, watching as the rain ended and the sun slowly began to rise. The storm was over. The fear was gone. But they were still there. Together.

A/N: So what'd you think? I'd really like to hear your opinions on this piece. And as to who the father of the child is? That's up for interpretation. Now me, personally I see it as being her daughter with Beast Boy. Anyway thanks for reading.
