A/N: Short little one-shot that follows on immediately after 6x09 – Disciple so SPOILERS for those who haven't seen it.

We'll meet again,

Don't known where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.

She was frozen in that moment of time. Unable to move. Unable to speak. Tears filled her eyes as the lyrics continued to occupy the empty space. Castle turned and noticed how her strides became slow before almost non-existent. She shuddered before coming to a complete halt. She didn't even blink. He didn't know what was going on. What the usb and accompanying audio file meant. But he was sure about the find out.

All the memories came flooding back to her from that day as she realised what song was playing. Kate was back at that cemetery standing on the dew covered grass. The rain had ceased only half an hour before the ceremony started. Many people had gathered to pay their respects but only a select few approached Kate and her Father expressing their condolences. She couldn't look up though. She preferred to stare at the ground; brushing her feet back and forth on grass.

It was the day of her mother's funeral. She was sitting next to her father when the song began to play. The clouds had just opened up, letting the sun's rays bring light to the dark day. It was if her mother was smiling down on her. She reached for the father's hand as the casket was lowered into the ground. Kate was never good at saying goodbye. She always would pride herself on the fact that ever since she was a little girl she would not let the pain get to her. No matter how bad things got she knew that tomorrow would be a new day and the pain would be less. But none of that matter on this day. The smooth jazz tune covered up the sobs of many in attendance, including nineteen year old Katie whose eyes were filled with tears as they streamed down her already puffy red cheeks.

Keep smiling through,

Just like you always do,

Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds, far away.

The song that was playing in the background was no accident. It was her mother's favourite. This version to be exact. When Jim and Kate arrived home that late evening neither bothered to check their surroundings. The following morning when Jim woke up he started the record player, not wanting the house to be filled with silence anymore. It was then that Kate woke up hearing the song that filled her mind with bittersweet memories.

It gave her comfort in the days following the funeral. It gave her hope for the future but at the same time it filled her with so much heart ache. It took her three days with the song on repeat to put the record away. In a box that she would never opened again.

Kate hadn't heard that song since that day almost fifteen years ago. But now as she remained frozen just outside the door to Castle's office, all the memories came flooding back.

We'll meet again,

"Kate?" He cautioned as he moved forward. The music file had stopped many minutes ago yet Kate was still yet to move. Still yet to speak.

Kate's mind was trying to process everything. Everything that were revealed in the past couple of days. Everything they had come to be involved in the past couple of years. She had wanted to believe it was over. She had wanted to believe that this particular Castle theory wasn't true.

"Castle" she let out a shaky breath. "That was the song was played at my Mum's funeral. He's back Castle. 3XK is alive. And he's going to come after me next."
