A/N: I couldn't get Jily out of my head. I need a break from all this packing, so I'm being naughty and uploading this.

Lily tore open her Hogwarts letter and couldn't help releasing a squeal of delight as a Head Girl badge toppled into her hand. This was what she had spent the past few years working towards. Setting the badge on her dressing table, Lily unfurled the letter and started to read. As she read her eyes grew wider and her jaw dropped. They couldn't be serious. James Potter was going to be Head Boy? He hadn't even been a Prefect so how on earth was this supposed to work?

Another owl swooped in through Lily's bedroom window and she rolled her eyes the moment she recognised the scrawl on the grubby piece of parchment. Potter. She took the scroll from the owl and opened it, not entirely sure that she wanted to read its contents.

Evans, congrats on making Head Girl. I'm dead proud of you. Means we can spend a lot of time getting to know each other a little better.

Lily sighed. She was a little surprised that Potter had refrained from putting winky faces on his note. She guessed it was nice that he had actually congratulated her, but his message was a total come on. Didn't he know by now that she wasn't interested? Apart from the fact that she had been with Amos Diggory for the last year and a half, she really didn't find Potter in the least bit attractive. He was arrogant and insensitive, two traits that Lily couldn't stand.

She figured she had best let Amos know that she had made Head Girl, but she wasn't looking forward to breaking the news to him that Potter was going to be her fellow Head Boy. He was already paranoid about Potter at the best of times, and she was dreading his reaction to finding out that Lily would be spending the majority of her nights with Potter. That said she was already planning to take up as many corridor patrols as she could on top of her late night study sessions in the library, just so that she could avoid Potter as much as possible. Then again, it might be better to tell Amos face to face. Yes, that was definitely the best idea.

"Mum! Dad!" Lily called, snatching up her badge and pinning it to her jumper. She clattered down the stairs to meet them in the hallway. "Look I made Head Girl!" Her parents embraced her, issuing congratulations when Petunia slid out of the dining room. She fixed Lily with a condescending stare.

"Head Girl of a school of freaks? Does that mean you're the biggest freak there is?" she asked snidely.

"Petunia!" her father admonished his elder daughter's retreating figure. "Apologise to Lily now."

Lily shook her head. "Don't worry Dad, Tuney's not worth it."
