Disclaimer: unfortunately I don't own Bones nor the beautiful song by The Script.
Author's note: this is my first Bones fanfic (songfic actually), please read, review and listen to the song. I may write another chapter soon, I feel quite inspired…
Tried to break love to a science
In an act of pure defiance
I broke her heart.
He had known he was the right guy all along, he had tried to convince her to give them chance because it was worth it, he had always insisted on the power of love but all she could give him was a rational explanation of the craziness of a faithful man trying to compare a feeling to science.
And as I pulled apart her theory
As I watched her growing weary
I pulled her apart
She said that a tiny muscle set in the middle of the chest couldn't feel any sentiment, he insisted on the fact that science wasn't absolute, some things just couldn't be understood only with the brain. She grew weary of being challenged; that was evidence she could feel something in her heart. Tears started flowing down her cheek.
Having heavy conversations
About the furthest constellations of our souls
And we're just trying to find some meaning
In the things that we believe in
They were trying to find a way to combine soul and brain. He was willing to make her understand how to take control of the unpredictability of things in life but her vision of the world couldn't be extended, she couldn't believe in any supernatural entity for which she hadn't proof of existence.
But we got some ways to go
Of all of the things that she's ever said
She goes and says something that just knocks me dead
Nothing could change, she was a scientist and she had found evidence of the insanity of a man possessed by his strong yet breakable feelings. He had to share them with someone like him.
You won't find faith or hope down a telescope
You won't find heart and soul in the
You can break everything down to chemicals
But you can't explain a love like ours.
She was never going to be surprised, everything was going the way it was meant to be. Her vital organ was never going to be broken but her chest was never going to be flooded with happiness. His feelings for her were just insane and yet unaccountable.
Woohhhh
It's the way we feel, yeah this is real
Woohhhh
It's the way we feel, yeah this is real
His feelings for her were true. She had to accept it but she didn't know how. Scientists didn't know why and how they should listen to the heart and he said that was something that was hard to explain to someone who wasn't used to deal with their feelings.
I tried pushing evolution
As the obvious conclusion of the start
But it was for my own amusement
Saying love was an illusion of a hopeless heart
Of all of the things that she's ever said
She goes and says something that knocks me dead
He had opened up to her but she couldn't adapt herself to his illogical theories. Lying to him about what she really felt would just be an illusion for his heart but that's not what he would have wanted.
You won't find faith or hope down a telescope
You won't find heart and soul in the stars
You can break everything down to chemicals
But you can't explain a love like ours.
He was a gambler, he knew what he wanted and he was willing to risk everything for it; he knew his love was real but the scientist couldn't find a reasonable explanation for that and therefore she couldn't accept it. Woohhhh
It's the way we feel, yeah this is real.
Woohhhh
It's the way we feel, yeah this is real.
