Hey! Sorry I haven't updated anything lately! Junior year is proving to be more hectic than I thought. I know you're probably thinking, "Reviewgirl911, we want you to update your stories, not post poems." Well, sorry about that, but this has been done for a while and I wanted to share it with you. I wrote at (once again) at bible camp during the worship one night. Something in one of the songs really struck me, and I wrote about ¾ that night and finished the rest in the morning. It's basically about a girl who needs saving and gets saved, but it's not as simple as you think. Hope you enjoy. No disclaimer here because this poem is 100% mine!

There once was a girl

She was covered in chains and ropes

With locks she could not pick and knots she could not untie

She was covered in dirt and sweat

In blood and cuts and bruises

She was covered in guilt and shame and lies

And then He came

He undid the knots and broke the chains

He wiped away the dirt and sweat and blood

Healed the cuts and bruises

He took away the guilt and shame and lies on her heart

All while telling her

"You are beautiful, you are worthy, you are saved."

The girl asked how she could possibly thank Him

He said:

"Go and find everyone with chains and ropes that once bound you.

Untie the ropes and break the locks.

Go and find everyone covered in dirt and sweat and blood like you once were.

Wipe them clean.

Go and find everyone with cuts and bruises on their bodies like yours once had.

Heal them.

Go and find everyone with guilt and shame and lies on their hearts that once laid on yours.

Take it away."

The girl agreed to do as He said, but she was afraid

She asked he she could find Him if she needed His help

He said:

"Call out, 'I need you'

And I will appear."

And so the girl headed out into the world

Ready to serve Him

She helped many people be free and clean and whole again

But there were those that did not believe her

They did not believe their ropes and chains could be untied and broken

Their dirt and sweat and blood wiped away

Their cuts and bruises healed

The shame and guilt and lies on their hearts lifted

They did not believe her account of Him

They just did not believe her

And as the girl traveled,

She forgot what was so wonderful about Him

How He had healed her and told her she was beautiful, worthy, and saved

She forgot the importance of Him

As she forgot, the ropes and chains and guilt and shame piled back on

She received more cuts and bruises

Was covered in dirt and sweat and blood

She was trapped

Desperate and alone, she remembered what He said

She called out:

"I need you."

And He appeared

Freeing her of every burden that had piled back on while she was out in the world

He said:

"I have been watching you.

I have seen you do as I ask.

I have seen you free many people of their burdens.

But I have also seen you struggle.

I have seen you start to believe those who say I don't exist.

I have seen your burdens be place back on you.

I have seen you forget me."

The girl was confused

She asked why He didn't help her if He saw her struggle

He replied:

"You didn't say you needed me."

And then the girl understood

So she went back into the world

Freeing people of their burdens

Telling them all about Him

And soon many learned to believe in Him

Whenever the girl felt her burdens fall back into place or her faith growing weak

She called out:

"I need you."

And He would always come

Lifting her burdens away

Telling her,

"You are beautiful, you are worthy, you are saved."
