Chapter One- You are a Nobody
"You are the bane of my existence. You make me cringe when you speak, and your voice is one that reminds me of the most course sandpaper around. Being near you makes me want to kill myself, and don't even get me started about your smell you putrid little boy! You reek of a demon, and only a demon. Your attributes are non-existent, and to top of everything else. . . You are a Nobody. Nobody likes a Nobody." He paused and looked into my eyes, sneering like he just saw someone he really hated, which is me in this case, and then turned away from me.
His back, hunched and withered from many years of dueling, grew smaller and smaller as he walked away from me. I felt my knees weaken, and I eventually collapsed onto the ground.
He's right…
"Hey, are you alright?" a velvety voice called from the darkest corner of the room.
I jumped, startled by the sudden voice of someone else. Soon, a tall figure came out of the shadows, and into the light of the once whitened room. I moved away from it as fast as I could, crawling backwards so he wouldn't see me.
Please don't look at me, I'm hideous…
"Hey, don't run. I won't hurt you, I'm here to help. It's okay. . ." he called out to me. As soon as he got in a close proximity to me, he held out his hand, and in the light of the one window that was on the wall behind me, it presented the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Well, he is one of the first people I've ever seen in my life… I'm only about 12 hours old.
"My name is Axel, got it memorized?" he smiled fondly, pointing to his own head for emphasis.
His eyes shone beautifully in the moons light, and his smile… made me want to smile too.
"A-axel. . ." I smiled back, realizing he wasn't going to hurt me.
"Here, take this and cover up, in the meantime, I'll find you some clothes and treat those. . ." his smile disappeared, turning into a frown. This made me sad; I don't want to see such a beautiful face turn into one of disgust.
"Are you okay to walk?" he asked, holding out his hand once more.
I nodded my head, and took his hand with the most happiness I've ever felt. If I had a heart, it would be beating very hard right now.
"Come, let's get you cleaned up." He held my hand tightly in his gloved one, and lead me down the corridor.
XxXxXxXx
"There! We are all done!" Axel smiled, tying the gauze in place so that it would stay still as I slept.
"Thank y-you." I struggled to speak, this is only the third time I've used it.
"Anytime. You know, I think I like you. . . What is your name?" he asked, is smile never faltering.
". . . I don't know. . . "I honestly replied, never once thinking on the subject.
"What? You don't know your own name? That's really strange . . . When I was born I knew my name, just as Demyx and the rest of them knew theirs. Well, I'm not just going to call you 13 for the rest of your life. You should pick one." He sat down beside me on the single sized bed, and contemplated a new name.
"Hmmm. How about Vellite?" he asked, looking to me for approval.
I shook my head no, that name sounded more feminine than anything. I want something that is truly me.
"How about something simple, like Rei?" he offered. Again… a girl's name. I shook my head once again, making him laugh.
"Oh, I know! Since you will be hanging with me, I suppose you need a rocker's name, right? Well. . . Rock. . . Roux. . . Roxy . . . Roxas? How about Roxas? That sounds pretty good, and you look like one." He smiled, this time a true shine to his smile.
I nodded in approval, liking the name with everything that I have.
Roxas. . . Your name is Roxas, and will be. . . for the time being.
