This one's about Brennan's first impressions of Booth. Obviously, set before the pilot.

Disclaimer: Say I'm skipping down the street, I would hear the click of my shoes saying, no-ot mine, no-ot mine. (Poor paraphrasing of a Phoebe quote from Friends. Sad, I know, but what can you do?)

Lemme know what you think of this story... or just let me know that I'm not alone in repeating random Friends quotes! :D

"I think somebody has a cru-ush" Angela said in a taunting, sing song voice.

"I do not have a crush on Agent Booth," Brennan said as she gathered papers roughly into a pile on her desk. "That man is infuriating and incompetent."

Angela paused. "Who said I was talking about you? Almost every single female here has been vying for his attention. Everyone except you." She raised an eyebrow.

"That's because I seem to be the only one here with common sense," Brennan said.

Angela smirked. "You are being wa-ay defensive. And that tells me everything I needed to know on what you think about Booth."

"I already told you what I think about Agent Booth," Brennan looked at her friend, confused.

"Ah, but that's not what you really think about him. I can tell from the expression on your face." Angela grinned.

Brennan glared at her. "That's a quality that you and Agent Booth both share. You're both able to pick up on body language and signals that may as well be as useful as mind reading." she sat back in her chair at her desk and sighed.

"So you're admitting you do have a crush on Booth?" Angela asked surprised.

"You just proved the point I was trying to make. Jumping to a conclusion just because of something someone said. It frustrates me."

"Sexually?" Angela grinned and raised an eyebrow.

"Angela-" Brennan was not impressed.

"Okay okay, maybe the real reason you're frustrated is that, although there isn't evidence indicating what a person's motive is, Booth is able to tell from a person's expression-"

"I just don't like jumping to conclusions before all the evidence is in." Brennan cut her off.

"I know, sweetie, believe me. I know your thinking process better than anyone else." Angela walked around the desk to stand beside her best friend. She put a hand on her shoulder.

"Think of it this way, both you and Booth are able to figure out things that are deep within people. Booth goes off of their emotions, and you are able to figure things out from their bones." She paused. "If that doesn't sound like the greatest crime solving team ever, I don't know what is."

Brennan considered what her friend had laid out in front of her. "I still don't have a crush on Booth."

Brennan got up from her desk and grabbed her coat from the rack. "Where are you going?" Angela asked.

"To find Agent Booth. We have a murder to solve."

"So you think you two can work together? Do you think this partnership will work?"

"For now." Brennan grabbed a file off of her desk and headed out the door. "I'd still wish that he'd stop calling me that stupid nickname."

"Well, it is accurate, you have to admit that." Brennan stopped to glare at her friend. "I thought you liked that in a guy," Angela added wryly.

Brennan turned on her heel and walked out the door. She pretended as though she hadn't heard what the artist had said.

Angela shook her head in amusement. Brennan totally liked him.

She just didn't know it yet.
