ANNABETH

My sword clung against Percy's sharp celestial bronze sword, Riptide. Just looking at my long-time boyfriend made my heart beat ten times faster. Percy's black hair was unruly and almost covered his sea-green eyes, very attractive. I couldn't help but stare at him, unmoving.

"Annabeth?" Percy noticed my fascination, capping his sword back into a pen. I dropped my onto the battleground just as Percy wrapped me into an affectionate hug. "Are you okay, Wise Girl?" His eyes were bright with love and affection, and he kissed me heartedly. I loved Percy, I really did, but things felt…strained somehow.

"It's nothing." I said, turning my gray eyes to the battlefield, where everyone, including

Chiron, stared at us in awe. "We better go join everyone else." By then the battle was over, and, of course, the Ares Cabin had won. Everyone cheered for Clarisse, their leader, and tried their best to hold her up without dying of exhaustion.

Percy and I went back to his cabin, which was vacant, because he was the only son of Poseidon that wasn't a Cyclops. The cabin itself was painted blue on the inside, with green carpet and gray silk beds. The bathroom was decorated with fish, and Percy's belonging clung to most of the shelves. Percy sat on his bed, the center one, and patted the area next to him. I sat obediently.

Percy rubbed his soft masculine hands through my light blond hair. His sea green eyes were focused on me, and I could tell something interesting was about to happen. Percy had been my best friend since I was twelve, my boyfriend since I was about fifteen, and my quest partner no matter what. He kissed my forehead, breathing his scent of salt water and sunshine onto me.

"Annabeth, I've been thinking about us for some time, you know." He said, not taking his eyes off me or even blinking. So when he finally did, I nearly jumped. "So, I just wanted to know, since we're eighteen and stuff…" he continued, reaching into his back pocket. "Will you marry me?" He pulled out a black velvet box and opened it. Inside was a silver ring with a huge diamond mountain on it. I looked at it closely, finding the words 'Forever and Always' engraved inside the ring. I nearly fainted, but Percy caught me.

I had to think. I was a daughter of Athena, goddess of wisdom. He was a son of Poseidon, god of the sea. Our parents were enemies. Even though I thought Poseidon would be lenient and tell Percy to listen to his heart, I knew my mother would probably turn us both into owls, her sacred animal.

"Percy," I heard myself say, clearing my throat. "I'll marry you, but we can't let my mom know." I was scared of her more than I was of Gaea or Kronos or even Hades. She was my mother, she should have been dear to me, but I was pretty much ignored, like all the other demigods. Percy looked somewhat hurt, but also somewhat understanding.

" I know, Annabeth." Kissing me on the cheek, he gave me a warm hug. The dinner bell sounded, but we didn't care. I wanted this to last forever. "But I'll love you know matter what happens." He kissed me and I wanted to melt in his arms.

"I love you, too, Percy."
