You see how it is? To you, this is only a battle of strategy. To me, it is a war of minds. Because of you, who are the cause of this, it is also a game of lives.

It is true that if one of us is cornered, all is lost for our side. That is why you use all "resources" and why I take all "options." For us, to win is to serve justice. To lose is certain death.
Black and white- opposites, enemies, allies… friends… an impossible balance that we hold. Yet who is black and who is white? Sometimes even I cannot tell. Light you are, and hidden by shadows am I. You would kill all who sin, while I believe life is precious. Both gifted and cursed by the possession of power, we two are different all the same.
People are human. We are human. You destroy the sinners, I protect them. Why? It is because all humans are sinners. You say you would judge sinners, but in truth, you are a hypocrite. You say you are God, but I know better. You are only human, and thus are subject to the same judgment.
I may die before the consequences of our battle come to light, but at least I have the assurance of victory. Unlike you, if I lose this fight, I still win. No matter where you are or what kind of power you have, there will always be someone brave enough and strong enough to oppose you. It is right what they say: "Justice will prevail." Even if I die, another "king" will rise up to take my place. No matter what I do, no matter if you win this battle, the chance of you winning the war will always be zero percent.

Yan: Written right after finishing the Death Note manga. Cheers to Mello and N aka Near for being the legacy to L's hydra. Everyone knows when you cut off the head of a hydra, two grow back in its place. Trust L to do the impossible putting two kings on the board at once. It's hard work going through the mind of a master strategist. I really hope I pulled it off. Thinking with that kind of logic is pretty interesting if ya wanna give it a try sometime.
