Herro. :3 I've never been too serious about writing, or really good at it, mind you, but I'm really excited to write this. On with the prologue! Oh, and I do NOT own Invader Zim.

Follow the Leads

Prologue

A shadow walked quickly along the sides of dark buildings, its owner down the lonely, dark street, like he wasn't in a hurry to get wherever he was going, but rather to get away from where he was. He couldn't have been much older than twenty, and wore a black coat that looked worn and loved.

Before he even knew what wash happening, the man was swept from the streets into a hidden alley, and thrown-hard-against the brick wall. After crumbling to the ground, his immediate instict was to get a look at his attacker, but as soon as he attempted to hoist himself up, a boot forced him down face-first onto the concrete, his nose breaking with an unpleasant crunch. The attacker's voice eased smoothly out of the darkness. "You are going to come with me." He could tell they were smiling. I shouldn't have gone out tonight. How could I have been so stupid?

It felt like hours, but it could only have been a few seconds before he worked up the courage to respond. "A-all those people disappearing off the streets...it was you?" In a matter of moments his fear was replaced by fury and hate. He said through clenched teeth. "I will never go without a fight."

The atmosphere changed quickly as the culprit smirked, lifting up their foot only slightly to grab the man's wallet, which had fallen to the ground when he was shoved. They weren't intersted in the money, the credit cards, or even the paranormal investigator's liscense. They were more interested by the photo of a grinning Asian woman with light green hair-the only picture in the wallet. The assailent tossed the full wallet of their shoulder, still looking at the photo. "She's very beautiful. It'd be such a shame for a pretty face like that to be hurt in any way, don't you think?"

The man stopped dead, his blood turning to ice. "N-no! I'll go with you-I won't even struggle! Just please, leave her alone!" he begged desperately.

Another cold sneer. "That's what I thought. That wasn't so hard, now was it, Dib?"

On the other side of town, a more terrifying criminal pulled the trigger. Her name was Gaz.

Sorry it's so short...but it is only the prologue, after all. ;) Reviews make the fanfiction world go 'round, and I won't update this until I get at least five, so tell all yo franz if ya wanna know what happens! ^^
