Rosemary woke up to the sun shining brightly in her room. Luna, sleeping by the window, stirred awkwardly. Luna's feet, it seemed, were the only part of her body still remaining on the bed, the rest of her slumped lazily on the floor. Rosemary giggled to herself at the sight and stretched her arms out. As Rosemary changed into her uniform, a thump indicated Luna had fallen completely out of bed, and she, too, was now up. Luna, from the other room, called to Rosemary.
"Good morning, Rosy," Luna said dreamily.
"Good morning, Luna. How was your sleep?" Rosemary murmured as she threw on her cloak and slid on her shoes.
"OH! I had the most wonderful dream!" she tossed her arms in the air and spun in a small circle next to her bed.
Rosemary gave Luna a warm smile. "Well how about you tell me all about it as you get ready."
Luna stopped spinning abruptly. "But Rosemary," she protested, "you are not ready either, my dear." She sashayed to her trunk and grabbed a small, neatly wrapped package.
"Did you-" Rosemary began, but Luna cut her off with a shake of the head and a smile. Rosemary opened the present and produced a short gold chain with a large red heart in the center, with short chains with smaller pink hearts at the end surrounding the red heart.
"It's beautiful…" she said, entranced by the necklace. Luna then took the necklace and draped it across Rosy's neck.
"This gift I give is not, in fact, mine to give. A favor has been called upon me and I accepted. Keep a watchful eye for the most unlikely person this Valentine's day," Luna explained. She then turned and walked down to the common room.
The most unlikely person? Rosemary thought to herself. Who would that be?
