Hotaru peeked around the corner. Her purple eyes scanned the room for signs of movement. It looked like it was clear, so she slowly crept her way across the room into the kitchen. She carefully swung the refrigerator door open. The door creaked, threatening the little girl's covert operation. She held her breath and listened. Still nothing. She breathed a sigh of relief and dared not to open the door any wider. There was just enough room to stick her arm in and reach for the forbidden item. She grabbed one and carefully closed the refrigerator. It made no further attempt to thwart her plans.

She made it back up the stairs without making a sound. The door was open to the first room. She could see her Setsuna-mama's shadow moving in the light that spilled into the hall. It appeared she was brushing her hair and, by the sound of her yelling, was deeply immersed in a gameshow on TV. Hotaru waited till she saw the shadow move away from the door, then quickly snuck by. One down, one to go.

The next one was tricky. It was her parents' bedroom. Hotaru took special care and didn't take any chances. She stood against the wall and listened. She could hear her Michiru-mama humming the melody from a duet that she always played with her Haruka-papa. If Michiru-mama found out what she was up to, she'd get in big trouble.

At last, she heard her Michiru-mama turn on the water in the bathtub. Once she heard the bathroom door close, Hotaru tiptoed past her parents' bedroom and finally made it to her own room.

Haruka was sitting on the floor in her daughter's room. She was busy playing Guitar Hero when Hotaru walked in. She gave her daughter a curious look.

"What do you have there, Hime-chan?"

Hotaru brought out the stolen item from behind her back. "Ramune," she said innocently and sat beside her papa.

"Ah, good thinking!"

Hotaru watched her Haruka-papa rock out and giggled. Setsuna-mama and Michiru-mama were right. Haruka-papa played more Guitar Hero than she did, and it was supposed to be her birthday present. Hotaru followed the instructions on the blue Ramune bottle and pushed the marble in with the cap. It made a popping sound, followed by some fizz. The marble clanked around inside the bottle as the stealthy little girl took a few gulps, then placed the bottle between her and her papa.

"Soda? On a school night?" a stern voice pierced the room.

Hotaru looked up to see one of her mamas standing in her doorway with arms crossed and gasped. "It wasn't me, Michiru-mama! It's Haruka-papa's!"

Michiru directed her stare towards her wide-eyed gaping wife. "Haruka?"

Haruka picked up the bottle of soda and held it up as if making a toast, then took a sip. "Hai! My soda!" she said and offered her lovely wife a smile.

Michiru arched an eyebrow and switched glances between the two. "Alright, just making sure," she said and walked back to the bedroom.

They waited till they heard not only the bathroom door close, but the water sloshing around in the bathtub, meaning Michiru wouldn't be sneaking up on them anytime soon. Haruka gave her daughter a discerning look.

"Thank you, Haruka-papa," Hotaru whispered and gave her papa a hug and kiss on the cheek.

Haruka passed the soda to her daughter and laughed quietly. "You owe me one, Hime-chan."

A/N: This was a little quickie I came up with during my lunch break at work. My coworker was intrigued by my Ramune and said I'm a big kid.
