A/n: Here's a quick one-shot that I'm thinking about continuing if I get time and people like the story :) italics are Sharpay's thoughts.

Never to late to change

When Sharpay Evans walked into school the following week she was still met with the petrified stares and stumbles as before. Not even a warm smile as she walked past helped much, instead they just stood there mouths agape.

A little giggled escaped. I love surprising people

I can't deny I love attention and I still want to be the star of every play but this time Its different for me, instead of being mean and stuck up to get attention, I was being nice and still getting the attention, only this time it was minus the evil glares. Yes this was much better, why hadn't I tried this before?

On a roll with her newfound kindness Sharpay Evans made her way to her locker, waving to Kelsi on the way, who responded with dropping all her music sheets to the floor.

Sharpay bent down and helped the younger girl gather her things.

She handed her the last few sheets. "There you go"

Kelsi pushed her glasses up not quite believing what had occurred. "Uh thanks Sharpay"

Sharpay smirked and waved "Tootles"

Finally at her locker Sharpay gathered her books for the day. She had been there for approximately two minutes when she paused and looked at her watch, 54321 "Hey Sharpay" Sharpay sighed, right on time.

Sharpay turned around and smiled "Hello Zeke"

She wasn't quite sure why he always came up to her, considering how she always treated him, she was rude to him often enough and he was always polite. No matter how hard she had tried before he had always shrugged it off and returned to meet her the next day.

"Want to meet for lunch today"?

She stared at him hard and he failed to flinch. Well she'd give him this he was persistent.

And even though she could never admit it before, he was kind of cute, in a dopey sort of way.

She closed her locker door and turned back to Zeke who was just about to get ready to walk away.

Ah what the heck

"See you then" she waved her hand "Tootles"

Chad, Troy and Jason having seen and heard their conversation rushed over to Zeke

"She said yes, the mountain lion said yes to baker boy, notify the papers"

Troy punched Chad's shoulder.

Jason scratched the back of his head "Now I know" he concluded, "She's definitely on something"

Zeke looked up slightly offended "Hey"

"No disrespect to you man " Jason quickly added.

"Didn't it ever occur to you guys that under Sharpay's mean exterior was a sweet nice person underneath just waiting to come out"?

All three of his friend looked at one another then turned back to him "Sharpay!" they exclaimed.

Zeke rolled his eyes, "Well you each owe me ten bucks"

"What"?

Remember our bet in 7th grade" he held out his hand "Hand it over guys"

Troy and Jason each handed over their halves of the money.

"You've got to me kidding me, " responded Chad guarding his wallet.

"Besides what are you going to do with 30 bucks"?

"Put it towards our first date" Zeke replied placing the money in his pocket, "told you guys persistence always pays off"

"See you at practice"

Chad, Troy and Jason all stared after Zeke.

"Well" said Troy cautiously "I guess it's true what they say, it's never to late to change"

"Once a mountain lion always a mountain lion" said Chad disapprovingly, "she'll break his heart, and guess who'll have to pick up the pieces".

Jason looked at Chad "Dude you have like no faith in people".
