Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.
He tiptoed down the stairs, in his pajamas but with a pair of robes thrown on over them. Over his right shoulder was his invisibility cloak. Ginny and Colin sat on the couch in front of the fire awaiting him. The two of them heard him hit the bottom step and turned quickly, ready to make up an excuse if it was someone else. "Harry," Ginny said, letting out a relieved sigh.
"Nervous?" he asked. "It'll be fine. You forget, I've got my little friend." Harry pulled the cloak from his shoulder and held it up. "My father's old cloak." He motioned the two to get up. They also wore robes over their pajamas, in anticipation that it would be cool outside, for that was where they were planning to go. Harry walked over to them and threw the cloak over the three of them. He gathered closer together with them so that the cloak covered their ankles. They were definitely very close together as they left the common room, but Harry didn't mind.
Truthfully, the feeling of Colin's breath on his neck was kind of exciting and comforting at the same time, he reached back and grabbed Colin's hand, stroking it softly. The boy drew slightly closer and planted a kiss on the back of Harry's neck and Harry heard Ginny's whisper. "Not here, you two." Carefully they made their way up to the top of the North Tower, and out onto the balcony, only once running into Peeves who passed over them without a second look.
As Harry had predicted earlier that day in the Room of Requirement it was very cool up there and they noticed it as soon as they emerged. Harry smiled, and pulled the cloak off. There was something about the beauty of the moon that drew him into a different mood. Colin brought his lips to Harry's neck, and wrapped the other boy in a hug. Harry returned it for a moment and then motioned to Ginny who joined the hug. For only a brief moment Harry felt connected to them, and knew that in time, he would feel this way always when he was around them, and this thought brought him great comfort.
Harry threw the cloak down onto the stone floor of the balcony and lay down, patting the ground beside him. Ginny lay down first, her head on his shoulder. Colin followed suit on the other side, and Harry looked up at the sky with a sense of hope for the future. "Look at the sky," Harry whispered to Colin, who had closed his eyes.
The boy opened his beautiful brown eyes, which made Harry's breath hitch where the beautiful full moon had failed. The moon was round and perfect, not a single cloud passing in front of it. Stars speckled the sky, the night was clear, and beautiful, just as it should be with such love lying together.
As the moonlight beamed down on the three, Harry turned on his side, to look Ginny in the eye. She too seemed as taken with the moment as he. Ginny sat up and Harry and Colin followed suit. "I… want to try something." What followed was perhaps a very awkward and embarrassing first three-way kiss.
As Harry pulled back, laughing only a bit, he said, "We'll have to work on it." Colin wrapped his arms around Harry's midriff and placed a kiss on the boy's chin, causing Harry to turn even redder than he already was before Colin rolled back over onto his back.
The three lay this way, looking up at the beautiful, bright moon, and Harry would not forget this night, or the sight of the moonlight on his lovers' faces.
A/N: Well, this should be the day after Favorite Places, done to the prompt Moon for the fanfic100 challenge.
