She didn't know much of anything.

She didn't know where she was, other than the fact that it was a tiny, bare, dark room. She didn't know why she was there, how long she had been there. She didn't even know her own name.

She knew there must be a world outside the small dark room that housed her. There was a door, after all, for all it lacked any means of opening. There was a slit in the bottom of the door that opened occasionally, to permit food to enter. There was also a flap in the upper section of the door, which sometimes opened to reveal a frightening pair of dark eyes.

She hadn't the faintest clue who the eyes belonged to, though she thought that maybe it was whoever had placed her here.

Was she ill? She didn't feel unwell, but perhaps that was it. Maybe that's why she knew nothing besides this room.

The eyes didn't seem caring though. Shouldn't whoever put her here, if she were ill, care to see if she was getting better? Wouldn't they come in and speak to her? These things made her think those eyes belonged to someone who wasn't at all friendly.

She supposed time passed, though aside from the occasional arrival of food and the periodical gaze of those eyes, it was hard to tell. Mostly, she found herself in a stupor. Since she had no memories, there was nothing to dream about. And without knowledge of her future, she had no plans to make.

But sometimes, in the darkest moments, something did come to her sluggish mind. It never stayed long, there were only ever glimpses of what might have been memory, or possibly just the imaginings of her stimulus deprived mind.

It was a color. A greenish gold that shimmered and was tinged with black. Sometimes, in the depths of her thoughts, she almost believed she heard an impish giggle as the color flitted around her head.

She had no idea what it meant. But somehow, that imagined laugh and and lovely shimmer always left a small smile on her face.
