Just one short one-short I came up with one night. Not sure if it's any good but please read.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters, oh gods how I wish I did.
She stared at the fire in front of her. She watched the burning embers glow hot in the darkness of the night. Her eyes traced the smoke, faint and wispy, rising up into the star strewn sky. She could hear chatter and laughter all around her. She could see the smiles they shot and twinkle of their eyes as they joked around. But they were all so… distant. As if they weren't really there but there was still an echo of their presence. Everything, at the moment, seemed dead. Just like her.
She was broken, and there was no point denying it. Everything inside her had seemed to collapse. And it was all because of him. She had trusted him, and he broke that trust; just like he had broken her. And like trust, like her, had few ways to get back.
She sat there for a while, clearing her thoughts. She was in a terrible state; her eyes were bloodshot and puffy, And she look like she hadn't slept for day – which she hadn't. Anyone would've looked at her and know to stay clear of her, but that didn't stop the person sitting beside her. And while trapped in her thoughts, she hadn't noticed the presence to her right.
He watched her in amusement. How her eyes brows scrunched up as concentrated on her thoughts. How she seemed to block the world away from her. How she hadn't noticed that he was right next to her, Oh how she would freak when she sees me, he thought, and he let out a low chuckle.
She had gotten snapped out of thoughts when a chuckle had emitted out of nowhere. She jumped slightly before tracing the sound back to its owner. Then she scowled.
"What are you doing here? Get lost." She hissed, staring at the bonfire before them, not reaching his eyes.
"Thought you needed a little company, that's all," he said nonchalantly, ignoring her obvious dislike of him.
"Not from the likes of you, do I," she snapped.
He sighed. "You're not still on about that are you?"
She whipped around to glare at him. "How could I forget?"
"We can always get you another one, can't we?"
"Yeah, Seaweed Brain. Go buy me another heart. Doubt they're any cheap though."
"Oh, come on Wise Girl," he reasoned, putting his arm over her shoulder. Annabeth shrugged it off, looking at him in disgust. She stood up, fuming, and stormed off. He stood up after her.
"Really? It was only an iPod I broke!" Percy cried, "Not your heart!"
"Same thing!" he heard her call back.
Hope you enjoyed that. I'm no good at writing long ones so sorry for that. Please review and feel free to give me advice.
