Chapter One ~

Chep, an elder collie, padded into the stable; Teeny, a pig runt, followed him; Angora, a grey she-cat, was licking her paws on an unused stall's closed door. Thunder crawled through the air causing vibrations and chills where it went. "That sounds scary Chep." Teeny said. Chep nodded and found a nice pile of hay in which he circled then lied down, "Yes, Teeny it does. Do you remember? There was a night like this one." Angora paused in her grooming and glowered at Chep. "You're going to go into one of your stories again aren't you?" Chep chuckled and Teeny puffed up his chest ready to spit back at Angora, but Chep beat him to it. "Why Yes, Angora. I was just telling Teeny about that first week that Aliela and Shadow came to Horseland." Teeny smiled wide and jumped around giggling and yelling, "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" Angora rolled her eyes and Chep watched Teeny jump around in amusement.

Suddenly Teeny stopped and lowered her ears. "But Chep didn't…" Teeny eyes filled with unshed tears. Chep cleared his throat and nodded. "Yes Teeny something bad did happen that day. You should know by now that friendship is the most important thing to have." Angora interrupted Chep with a quick meow with her opinion, "Oh, please. Who needs friendship when you can do everything yourself?" Chep shook his head and said, "That's what Aliela thought too. But you'll need friends to help you in a tight situation." Angora jumped down from her perch and sauntered over toward Chep, "Ha! If you get in a tight situation that's your own fault. Why should you need someone else's help to get you out?" Chep twitched his tail tip and said, "You'd think different if you were the one in the sticky situation Angora."

Angora placed a clean and neatly groomed paw against her chest in fake astonishment. "Me? In a sticky situation. Why that sentence shouldn't even exist." Teeny walked right behind Angora and shoved her right into another pile of hay. Her head popped out covering in straw and her hissed quietly at Teeny. She carefully made her way out then looked herself over. "Look at what you've done you stupid pig. This will take me forever to clean up." Chep and Teeny both chuckled at Angora's misfortune. After a while Chep cleared his throat and said, "Now back to what I was saying before. It was the first week Aliela came to Horseland…"
