A/N: So here it is. My second DNAngel fic and my first attempt at a fleshed out DNAngel fic. This idea has been floating around in my head for months. So now it's finally down. This is my telling of the events of Dark and Krad's pasts. Upon writing this I've only seen up to episode 12 of the series, so I don't know what happens beyond that. No spoilers here. Just my own perceptions. Please be kind

This work is dedicated to KK. She's my very own Krad. Without her, I probably wouldn't have been able to write this.

Prologue - The Lovers

//Gold met red-violet across the crowded room. Even with all the bodies between them, the connection was unmistakable. The boy looked away, afraid that someone would notice. But he could still feel those eyes upon him. Watching him. A hot blush spread across his cheeks and he slowly turned back to the other. He watched the tall blonde smirk and turn, moving through the double doors leading to the gardens beyond.

There were too many people wrapped up in their own little worlds to notice the violet haired boy pushing his way through them. They may have stopped to scold him for toes trod on, but they didn't give him any more thought. He was just another son.

The boy stepped out into the cold night. He caught a glimpse of blonde moving down the stone path, deeper in the lush gardens. Grinning, he picked up his pace, jogging down the path. The blonde had disappeared. His night vision kicked on and he was able to see the shadows move. But he didn't see that shadow creeping up behind him. He didn't know someone was even behind him until he was grabbed and pushed up against the trunk of a tree. He let out a yelp, but a pair of lips crushing to his own cut it off. Eyes widened, but he soon melted against the other body.

The blonde pulled away, gazing upon the small form he had captive. It would be so easy for him to take the thief now. Turn him in as he was supposed to. Lips trailed over that jaw, down his neck. He wouldn't turn the thief in. He would keep him for his own. They belonged to each other.

Dark laughed and squirmed against the taller boy. "We should be getting back, Krad. We might be missed."

"We won't be missed, mouse. We're not our parents so they don't even realize we're there." A smile curved against that neck before he released his prey. "They've stopped talking about you. Decided you're out of your family business?"

The question caught Dark off-guard. He sighed, dropping to the ground so his back was to the tree. "For the moment . . ." He shrugged. "There just hasn't been anything worth stealing lately they said. Are you done hunting me?"

Krad knelt before the other boy, hands dropping to his shoulders. "You dropped your guard to me. I would have taken you by now."

"That's true." Dark smiled brightly, leaning up to kiss Krad's jaw. He'd fallen in love with someone who was supposed to be his enemy. It made him feel so warm and happy. "We really do need to get back."

"We've got a little time yet." A slightly feral smile slipped over Krad's lips as he lowered Dark to the ground. . .//

Niwa Daisuke woke from the dream sweaty and twisted in the sheets. His heart raced with emotion that didn't belong to him. It was a dream, but why did it seem like a memory?

Dark's memories of Krad . . .
