It was raining.

It was always raining, she noticed, when she saw him. But it was only a mere glimpse, a heartbeat that passed, a sudden blink and he was gone, his pale face that faded and blurred into the bustling crowd. And who was she to reach out to a stranger, who perhaps took no notice of her at all, while she gazed out of a glass window, searching for a dream? She was not a shining ray of hope, and he was not a knight in enchanted armour.

But maybe in the recesses of her mind lay a hope that he noticed her, and perhaps gave a smile in her direction. She'd like that, she mused, a coy smile sneaking into the corner of her mouth, she would like that a lot.

Her small hand daintily touched the window, transparent as ever, with tiny droplets of rain clinging onto the surface.

A blink, a second of recognition, her mouth parted to speak unheard words.

He was there, smiling strangely, pale and out of place like china cups among plastic toys.

"Sakura!"

Turning away, her attention caught and twisted like waking from a dream; and the moment slipped past her.

When she turned back, he was gone; the stranger who left nothing else but rainbows behind him, sweeping away prisms of light as gently as a breath of wind when no one noticed.

But then, his mark always remained, mysterious as ever, his silver droplets seeping into her cream-white skin.
