"I walk a lonely road," The young boy uttered as he walked to school. This should have been quite odd, for it was a bright, shining day. He had done it so often, though, that nobody even paid attention anymore. Well, not everyone.

"Hey there! How are you doing this morning?" A cheery voice sang from behind the boy. "You know what today is?" With almost too much excitement, she screamed, "It's Carnival Day! See ya there, k?"

The boy stared at that falsely cheerful girl, "The only one that I have ever known," he whispered.

Next, there came a tall man, with the look of one forced to grow up too fast, complete with a briefcase. "Are you just walking down this street? Have you ever thought about what you're doing? Do you know where this goes?"

"Don't know where it goes, but..." The boy stopped mid-sentence.

The man looked knowingly into those sad eyes, "You should go home, it's not good to wander around the streets.

"It's home to me," He whispered knowingly, and with great strength, "And I walk alone." Sensing darkness in the boy, the businessman quickly strode away.

The street was bustling with people; one scarcely could tell where to put their feet without stepping on someone. The young boy kept walking, "I walk this empty street," the boy looked up at a street sign, and turned onto another road, "On the boulevard of broken dreams."

It was night, and there was no light in the sky. The ambient light of the city sucked out the stars like nothing else. "Where the city sleeps, and I'm the only one and I walk alone."

The darkness seemed to wrap around the boy, pulling him into an alleyway whispering, "I walk alone, I walk alone. I walk alone, I walk a-"

He was cut off by a shadow behind him, enveloping him in the darkness. Gasping for breath, he cried out, "My shadow's the only one that walks beside me!" Pushed down onto the ground, they shadow materialized into a boy much like him, but different. "My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating..." he whispered as the shadowy figure ripped his clothes off. "Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me," he said as the shadow finished it's dirty dead and the boy got up. "Till then I walk alone."

It was dark. Dank, musty, tomb-like. The boy was still walking, this time along a hallway. "I'm walking down the line," as he glanced at the fancy door to his left, "that divides me somewhere in my mind." Turning around, he walked past the door again, stopping to stare at it, "On the borderline of the edge and where I walk alone," he said, going back to his walking.

He was lying on a bed, whispering to himself clutching a daisy in his hand. "Read between the lines," he pointed to a book he had highlighted in. The highlights read 'of what's fucked up and everything's alright,'

A blonde sitting next to him tried to comfort. "It'll be okay, it'll get better."

"Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive..." he whispered as he fell into a stupor.

He was walking along the hallway again. Stopping along the way in front of that door, "and I walk alone," he said sadly as he turned the handle, going into his own doom.
