Disclaimer: I own nothing associated with CSI:NY; if I did, I'd be able to finally afford a high-speed connection. I do, however, own the poem used, which was written about 5 years ago.
A/N: Thanks so much to my amazing beta, messermonroe; you rock my world, babe!! Any remaining mistakes are my own.

Lindsay lay on the bed in her Bozeman hotel room, staring at the ceiling. The day had been a long one, her time on the witness stand coming to an end suddenly as she found could not go on. The court had recessed until the next day, at which time she had no choice but to 'cowboy up', and finish her testimony.
She felt so alone, having left a part of herself back in New York, having left him without a proper good-bye, only a card. Good-byes were too final she concluded, not wanting to give him the impression she didn't want to see him again.
That was the one thing that had kept her going; the chance to get this over with, and back to where she belonged. As she drifted into sleep, her mind recalled a few of the close moments that had always offered her comfort.
I wish I could see you again,
To have you hold me
In your arms
And make the outside
World go away.
Lindsay couldn't believe her ears when Danny agreed to help her with the 'little experiment' she had. Her heart pounded as they set up, loud enough that she was sure that he would hear it. When he picked her up in his arms and carried her across the rooftop garden, Lindsay knew this was were she belonged. He carried her easily, and without complaint. As far as they were concerned, they were the only ones there.
I wish I could see you again,
To feel your breath
Against my cheek
Caressing and comforting
Letting me know I'm safe.
After the flashbomb went off, the room erupted into chaos. The first thing she remembered was Danny calling her name, trying to find her in all the smoke. Spotting her, Danny dropped to his knees and gathered her up in his arms, thankful that she was okay. She could feel a slight tremble as he held her, betraying his true feelings for her. He pulled back as their eyes met. In his eyes, Lindsay could see how worried he had been. He pulled her close again, his breath against her face, and to her, it was the most wonderful feeling in the world.
I wish I could see you again,
And have your hands
Upon my skin
Taking take me to heights
Long forgotten.
While they were trying to solve who killed the doll doctor, Danny had held her hand for a moment, to demonstrate a point. The electricity they exchanged when he touched her hand was exquisite. Like having a bolt of lightning strike too close, she felt the hairs on her skin stand, the tingling sensation spreading throughout her body. It was not an unpleasant feeling but one that she would never tire of, and she knew he would be the only one who could make her feel this way.
Will you ever know
How special you are to me
And how complete I feel
When I am close to you
Sharing stolen moments.
As she finally slipped over the edge, into a deep sleep, Lindsay smiled. Somehow, she knew that tomorrow would be better….a day of many promises, a day closer to home.
