In his personal opinion it was Ron's job to make sure Harry stayed alive. He thought that with Hermione by his side he'd done a pretty good job but after the battle Ron lost face. He was grieving and trying to get a balance again but about three months after he took up Harry watching. Of course he watched Harry a few times in those three months but never acted. What he saw was weird.
Firstly Harry didn't seem to grieve, he may occasionally brood but never grieve.
Secondly he spent a lot of time with George and helped George get back on his feet. Amongst other things Ron realised he and almost everyone else was neglecting Harry. The young man had taken it upon himself to help out around the house AND to be everyone's person therapist. So that's why Ron was worried. They seemed oblivious to the fact he had died. So Ron, being the friend he was followed Harry outside. He sat next to Harry on a log.
After a moment Harry spoke up.
"Your worried" it was a statement more than a question. Ron grimaced.
"Imma concerned" Harry laughed.
"It's in the job description" both men sat in silence, unsure of what to say.
"You need to grieve" Ron said. The boy who lived said nothing.
"You're dying Harry, I can tell you feel the guilt" Harry shook his head.
"I dunno what to feel Ron... I feel hollow, like I'm floating." Ron looked at his best friend in concern. He told Ron how he felt and to be honest that scared Ron the most. HARRY got up and patted Ron on the back.
"Don't worry about me, when it's my time to grieve I will." And then he left. Ron just stared at the grass. He realised that Harry was grieving in his own way, by helping others. He promised he would help his best friend, just like the way Harry James potter had helped him.
