A/N: So I haven't written a fan fiction in a LONG time. Recently fell in love with Criminal Minds and Hotch/Reid so the plot bunny's came full force. This is one of them.
Spencer doesn't like TV; it's not really a surprising fact. He can even admit that he didn't own one for a few years. However, societal norms overruled personal choice and he figured that if anyone ever came over –as rare as that was – would at least have something to keep them occupied. After all, his literature…isn't the most stimulating to a normal person.
But Saturday mornings were Spencer's one and only time he consistently watches TV, job permitting that is.
Walking – well hobbling on his cane - up to the well manicured home, Spencer felt a tad awkward. You would think after four months this would feel normal, Spencer thought.
Hearing the low sound of the TV on in the background, Spencer knocked on the door and waited for a muffled "come in" before shuffling himself around and opening the door. He did not expect Jack to come bounding into him and he winced in pain.
"Hey buddy, don't forget the bad leg!"
"S'ry Spence…'m glad 'r 'ere!" Jack said, with a mouthful of…something. Spencer looked at Hotch, Aaron, inquisitively.
"Cinnamon rolls…trying to teach him the most important breakfast food group." Aaron said.
Spencer grinned and questioned him, "Sugar and carbs?" as he reached for one on the plate that was still steaming from the warmth.
"Uh, they taste good?" Aaron said innocently. Reid, feigning embarrassment, shook his head and bent down to talk to Jack. Carefully, he took a bite of the very delicious cinnamon roll.
"So what cartoons are on the agenda today?" Spencer said.
"Hmm…I dunno. Whatever's on I guess," Jack replied.
Slowly rising to stand again, Spencer coaxed Jack to the TV so he could talk to Aaron alone for a minute. "Well why don't you find whatever one you like the most okay? I'll be over in a sec." Jack nodded and walked over to the TV and sat on the floor, furiously flipping channels.
"I missed you," Aaron said, "I was going to ask you to come over last night but…"
"I, uh," Spencer gulped, he hasn't felt this nervous in a while, "We got back from the case late anyway."
"Look, I know you've been feeling uncomfortable since Haley passed but please don't be. We've been together for too long to erase everything we had." Aaron explained, almost desperately.
"You don't get it – Jack lost his mom four months ago and I don't think…"
"He misses you, he asks for you and I don't know what to tell him…Oh, I'm sorry Jack but he's only going to be here Saturday mornings?," Hotch's voice waivers and he sternly says, "That's not acceptable."
"I know." Spencer looks down, "Are you sure?"
"I've never been more sure in my life," Aaron placed his hand on the small of Spencer's back and kissed him gently, "Now go hang out with Jack and we'll finish this later."
Spencer smiled before going to sit on the couch, "So Jack what's the verdict?"
"Spongebob Squarepants!" Jack yelled excitedly. Spencer could deal with Spongebob, he actually secretly like the silly sponge.
Jack crawled on the couch and cuddled up to Spencer without taking his eyes off the TV.
Spencer doesn't like TV, but Jack does, so I guess I could get used to this…
