Sirius sat happily in the cheerful kitchen of Lily and James Potter. It was yellow, and reminded him of sunny days.
"And then he was like, 'Oi! Drop that pigeon!'" James said, laughing hysterically.
Sirius laughed along with him, nearly falling off the chair.
Suddenly Lily appeared her face disapproving.
"Shush, you hooligans! You'll wake the baby!" This did not quiet James down at all.
"Hooligans! Hooligans!" James had tears of mirth tracing down his cheeks. Sirius grinned, happy to be here, to be loved.
"Hooligans!"
Sirius stood disbelievingly outside the house, horrified, denying it.
No. No. No. No.
A mantra played in his head as he surveyed the ruins. Suddenly he saw him.
James's body lay twisted on the floor. His wand was still in his hand, trying to fight off Voldemort.
Sirius went upstairs; saw Lily's body, her arms flung out like she was trying to protect what she had no hope of doing.
It hit Sirius like a ton of bricks. They were dead. Never coming back. Never would he sit in the sunny kitchen while Lily made dinner.
No. No. No. No.
Never would he here James laugh, hear Lily sigh in exasperation.
No. No. No. No.
The memories were coming faster now. He couldn't stop them.
Sirius coaxing Lily to go out with James.
Playing with Remus in werewolf form, a rat and stag beside him.
Drawing a moustache on James while he slept.
Sneaking away to visit Hogsmeade.
No. No. No. No.
A rat.
Peter.
He saw red and Apparated away.
Sirius curled up in a cold corner of his cell, longing for warmth. Sirius closed his eyes and saw Remus, James, and Lily, smiling. They beckoned to him and he tried to come but there was a horrible coldness that wrapped around his legs, bounding him.
Suddenly he awoke, and he was alone. Alone in a never ending grayness, something was eternal, unending.
He heard the shattered screams of the other prisoners, and he sobbed, crying out for someone, anyone, to save him.
He joined the screeches.
Sirius pranced around the house, singing at the top of his lungs.
"God rest ye merry hippogriffs,"
Sirius arrived at the door of Harry's room, and stuck his head in. For a moment he saw James looking back at him, but he shook his head and said,
'Come on Harry, its dinner time."
Harry got up and walked with Sirius downstairs, whistling.
"Dear cousin, time to die!" Bellatrix sang. Sirius smirked.
"I think not, fellow Black," he replied.
Suddenly he saw a flash of red light, he dodged it, but the magic force sent him backwards. He saw James's – No, Harry's, terrified face, hear him out,
"Sirius!"
But Sirius was gone, and he was finally home.
