A world Without you

Everything happened so fast, and so slowly at the same time. Perhaps because Merlin had already seen this scene, like a somber and grim déjà vù that insists on repeating itself. The Sword crossed Arthur's chest and somewhat, Merlin felt the pain within him. He could have killed Mordred when he was only a little scared druid child, afraid of death. But he didn't.

Kilgharrah had warned, and over again he didn't do anything. He could have said to Arthur to allow the use of magic in Camelot. what he had always wanted. hoping kill Mordred – and that time, it was Kilgharrah's fault, because he was only following the great dragon's plain. – He said that it was no place for magic in Camelot. Sealing the Arthur's fate and his as well.

But now, Mordred has killed him. And somehow, everything for what he had fought for so many years had been ruined in a couple of minutes only because he couldn't kill Mordred. The entire Albion had losed his king and it was Merlin's fault.

Mordred bend down toward Arthur's almost inert body and whispering something on his ear. Merlin remained still, he couldn't think. He couldn't say anything. He just looked at Mordred and when he begin to pronounce an enchantment, Mordred was faster than him and throws him to the air. As he tried to stand up, the other threatened him with a sword on his throat.

"Why?" He asked "You betrayed us! You killed Arthur! And he saved your life!"
"And so I saved his, twice. So I think He owe me one. "He started, caressing Merlin's throat with his sword "And after all, I'm just fulfilling my duty to the destiny. You knew that since the start of everything. This is a start of a new age. And I'm afraid you'll not be part of it." And with a move, he cuted Merlin's head off. It takes a few seconds for his life to slip away, enough to hear Mordred speaking again: "He asked me to say that he loved you. And he thanked me for killing him first, so he couldn't live in a world without you, even for a few seconds."

It was enough for Merlin.
